In March 2017 William Crum was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault causing severe bodily injury. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for both charges.
The Captain I would like to say what I would do to him if I witnessed this or was a victim. However that would probably be in poor taste and would make me look almost as bad as him
I would never intentionally hit a person. This morning, when I tried to change lanes there was a motorcycle in that lane, he beeped his horn and I did not hit him. If I had a chance to speak to him I would apologize. To do it intentionally is ridicules.
Got to love that quote - "if he hadn't been breaking the law it wouldn't have happened." Well, how about if you didn't side swipe him it wouldn't have happened? Why does it matter to him that biker is over taking him when he shouldn't have been? would the car driver have been inconvenienced? What difference does it make to him? The car driver should just mind his own business!
Remember, at the end of the movie Easy Rider, those two yokels are passing the motorcycles in their pickup and they just randomly decide to shoot them with their shotgun? This was that scene in real life, and William Crum is, in every way, the personification of the yokels in that truck. He tried to kill them for no reason other than it amused him to do so. It wasn’t even road rage. It was just a psychopathic disdain for life combined with a sociopathic disdain for people. It’s a shame Crum wasn’t a much younger man and the judge didn’t give him a much longer sentence. While he may die in prison, I suspect a much longer life and a much longer sentence would be required to make him appreciate the gravity of what he did and to develop a modicum of remorse.
The idiot on the motorcycle needs to follow the law. That motorcycle could of caused a life threatening accident himself. I can understand that people get upset over idiot motorcycle drivers.
I am a rider and I always follow the speed limit, no more than five over and I can agree that he shouldn't have done that because of the risk doesn't outway the reward but motorcycles are not cars and can get up to passing speed in a split second and the road was flat enough to see ahead so it was safe enough for him but this jackass tries to murder him.
Yes, time to ban him from driving for life, after a good amount of jail time. Sure, the motorcyclist was in the wrong for crossing the double line and other offenses but you can't escalate vigilante justice, especially when you could kill someone.
My full respect to all the guys that were at the place as it happened for their help and that they stayed calm... I dont know if wouldnt have put the old man to the ground. I would at least have put him down and layed onto him so that he couldnt run or atack again.. You never know with crazy people like that. God bless you guys stay safe out there
Lol he complains about him breaking the law yet he almost killed him BREAKING the law. Mk good statement, if I were his judge I'd laugh and make his term longer.
Crum says: "If he hadn't been speeding it wouldn't have happened." Seriously, Mr. Crum, have you never heard the old saying "Two wrongs don't make a right,"? Your deliberate actions merit nothing less than second degree attempted murder. You're a menace and belong in prison, not in a car.
Here's my question... Whether or not the biker is speeding, crossing the double-yellow or anything else illegal, what right does Crumb have to police the guy? I'm like anyone else. I don't like to see squids on superbikes running up and down the highway on just the back wheels. I don't like it when they blast past me at well over 100mph when we're in a 45 zone. Lane splitting is illegal in this state and it sticks in my craw when bikers blast past me in a traffic jam at 50mph faster than I'm going. BUT IT IS NOT MY PLACE TO STOP THEM! I am not a cop. I don't have the authority and I certainly have NOT been granted special permission from God. How is it that some people feel that they are entitled to take the law into their own hands like this?
Good. Even if he gets out of prison early for good behavior. Which is not a guarantee seeing how obstinate he is, hopefully he won't be able to afford a car once back out.
As a biker myself, I don't condone the passing in the no pass zone. That being said, Crum could have killed them, and allowing the bike to pass would only have been maddening, not lethal. People drive like asshats all the time, and trying to avenge all the wrongs would leave few left unscathed. I hope the passenger on that bike comes out ok, and I'm glad I wasn't the one with the GoPro, as I might have beaten that old man to death in the heat of the moment...
There was literally no reason for him to have swerved left. Even if he was trying to turn into that sideroad, he was going much too fast and turned right as the biker was passing.
Glad this guy is off the road and out of society. It is scary to see how people like Crum really believe they did absolutely nothing wrong. He had zero concern for the other guy and, IMHO, is just a sociopath. He has no remorse and is putting all the blame on the bike rider. Thanks goodness the two people on the bike didn't die but he could've easily been looking at manslaughter in that case, at the very least, or murder, which it should have been attempted murder.
I ride everyday and this is one of my biggest fears people get mad at us motorcyclists for doing things that they don't understand cause they don't ride luckily he had the go pro. I hope this shows all car drivers out there just how dangerous it is to "bump" a bike with your car. until you have ridden around on a bike you have no idea what it's like to not have a giant cage around you he almost murdered both of them and now she's in surgery all cause some guy compares hitting a motorcycle to crossing a double yellow.
The motorcyclist already had no license, he crossed the line literally and figuratively. YOU DO NOT GET AWAY WITH THAT IN TEXAS. Also Crum failed to signal, which makes the whole thing unbearable. This is AMERICA people, let's start following our laws!!!
I hate how people expect everyone else to be apologetic, sometimes people do things on purpose and they don't feel bad or care if the other person got hurt
This old man is plain evil if he don't go to jail for attempted murder he will kill when he gets a chance he needs about 20 years behind bars to keep people safe from his evil
He crossed a double yellow to cause a catastrophic accident & that was not called for. Who does he think he is??? He should be just minding his own business & not trying to be a law enforcer, That job is for real men not senile people with a weird agenda.
This happened about 1 mile from my house. That asshole never did "get it" about what he did. He has done this to a few others too. I can happily tell you that he's sitting in the Texas big house right this minute due to this video.
He said "Well if he hadn't been breaking the law none of this would've ever happened" Doesn't that sound familiar????? I swear I've heard that somewhere before..... And every time I've heard that people overwhelmingly agree. So why not this time? Let me guess... "Oh, well that's different" is the response I'm gunna get :-/
Define "breaking the law". Are all laws broken as serious as each other? Is rape as serious as littering? Is murder as serious as double parking? Get real for once in your life.
actually if the driver of the car wouldn't of broken the law none of this would of happened. The motorcyclist, while breaking the law could of successfully passed the car if the DRIVER of the car wouldn't of broken the law.
Probably because it isn't his job to patrol the roads, and it most definitely isn't his job to punish someone for breaking the law. Ergo the jail jumpsuit.
have a judge deny this man to ever drive or be driven. He is BANNED from any means of motorized transport. Problem solved. Travel and driving is not a constituional right problem solved
