Some very demanding people in the comments 🙄 Those who want to see captions as good as Don's, see Don Coffey's you tube channel there is plenty of trips over this route. I'm happy to see without captions, see more of the route rather than trying to keep up with them! Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Geoff, I must admire the quality of this video. BUT ..... you need to get Don to show you how to add running commentaries. That's the difference ...... Don's offerings are really informative ..... pure gold.
I will Peter......I watched a lot of his material before we made contact , it's the best in the UK for sure....

Agree, most of us already know the path, but at least it is necesary to add "captions" in order to show those people who don't. (e.g.: stations names) Very nice images! You can! ;-)

@@geoffmackley Agree again! Don is the Unique, the Master (of the Universe). The most didactical youtuber.
Great day for it. I lived in Huddersfield 40 years ago and regularly travelled to Manchester Victoria. Remembered the really long Standedge tunnel near Marsden.
A brilliant video, a lovely day, excellent Countryside, clear picture what more could you want. I really enjoyed it, bowling along the tracks, thanks Geoff.
Very Nice HD video: seen all signal very clear, All point position seen very clear Normal & Reverse, All sign Board visible very clear, All AWS beep green sweet sound and restricted Color yellow , doble yellow and red different sound very clear hearing in video, Really very good video done by team, Thanks very Much all Team
Took me a while to work out it started from Oxford Rd using Google Earth - I’m not from around here. Great video, though - captions would be even better.
Agreed. Captions for stations, junctions, and key line features (eg bridges, viaducts and tunnels) plus perhaps interesting line side buildings or landmarks. Good video nevertheless.
Lived in Huddersfield for some yrs in a little village called Slaithwaite before moving to Hornsea Loverly Station there even went train spotting at Victoria....
Im from area around 21:00. All comments are true that it’s beautiful countryside but it’s lovely and green because it rains. A lot. It rains 98% of the time. I live near London now and the weather is so much better
The new electrification with the overhead wires that ends after Manchester Victoria towards Huddersfield. I was thinking if Network Rail could of continued on electrifying to Leeds and to York via Church Fenton and to allow electric & Bi-mode trains to operate from Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria to Leeds and York using 25kv OHLE.
I think Summit and Standedge tunnels make that difficult for either trans Pennine route, not insurmountable in either case just expensive. The government recently reneged on their promise for "Northern Powerhouse" rail projects such as electrification between Leeds and Manchester.
Is this an old video? I thought we would see some of the current electrification work going on between Victoria and Stalybridge! It would be nice to see some of the ongoing upgrades on the route from “The Cab”.
@@geoffmackley Would it please be possible for you to upload a caption version and a non caption version in the future? I don't like captions as it's too distracting and spoils the footage.
It's Manchester Victoria, not Victoria Station in London. Although even that is not quite correct as the video starts at Manchester Piccadilly. Victoria Station is at 6:20.
