Improving the driveway was definitely a priority on my to-do list ✅
I couldn’t make it up with my camper van and got stuck a few times. So in order to be able to stay and work on the land, we had to find a quick solution on how to fix this driveway.
I gladly accepted help for this major project.

What you could do on the road way is get some logs sink them down 3/4 in the road way going across the road that will keep the gravel from washing out so much

Hey! Ich bin gelernter Jurist, aber für den Untergrund würde ich groben Schotter nehmen, wie man ihn unter Eisenbahnschienen legt, verdichten und dann das feine Material... Das kann nicht gut gegangen sein. Die nächste Reise wird eine sichere Sache sein... 😅❤👍

Often a course, heavier gravel/rock is placed as a base on driveways. The finer stone is placed on top of the base rock and then tamped. It's amazing how well smaller gravel will tamp into larger aggregate. As long as it doesn't get muddy, it makes a very stable roadbed.

@@SwimCoach8 I do kind of regret using cement on it. The result might have been different/better without it.

@@Itsirislisette I don't think the cement hurt or helped. Tamping the dirt base might have helped BUT you would need to survive the dust storm that would cause! Could always spritz it with water and re-tamp. Prolly get as good as the first time, then slowly loosen again. Larger rock base, then compacted with smaller stone is usually the best bet.

Using cement on the gravel on a road will not work unless you reinforce it with steel bars. To heavy cars will break it without it.

Hi Iris, that looks ok and my guess is that it will set itself over the coming weeks. The idea with the cement is good but I think the layer might have been not thick enough to form a solid. Curious about your next project. Have a great week!!! Cheers Bert 🙏🏻❤
