3 in the tree is the very best but you got to feel it or you'll just locked up the gears like my old man used to all the time I learned on a three on the tree my grandfather's 1963 Chevy Impala was the last car he owned I set on his lap and he let me drive I just did what he did he died in1969 never forgot my lessons I was 9 years old and all the vehicles i owned till 1981 were 3 in the tree 69 and 70 ford truck 65 Chevrolet wagon 69 77 Chevrolet pickup never locked it up but my old man my grandfather's son every time he tried to shift it too fast my grandfather said that boy just doesn't get it but you do I miss my grandfather just this little story about a great person in my life

As a kid, I grew up in the early 1980's driving a '74 F100 with 3-in-the-tree and manual steering. At only 145lbs at the time, it sometimes felt like I was wrestling a gator😂

Learned to drive stick in a ‘72 F100 Sport Custom. 302 2v, three on the tree and everything manual. To me it’s the easiest manual there is to learn on and a pleasure to drive!

Love the 3 on the tree. They were very common years ago. They were phased out in the mid 1980's.

Thats awesome to see an old ford 3 on a 🌲. I learned how to drive manual on one of our old company econoline vans with the same setup. Manual everything, power nothing. Brings back fun old memories. 👊🤘.

I'm like you - I've had a bunch of Fox Mustangs and Capris with four speeds and five speeds, and driven all kinds of other manually shifted vehicles, but I was older when I drove a three-on-the-tree for the first time. And I liked it so much that I bought it - 1977 F150 long bed with a straight six. That '71 is sweet! I could tell it was a six when the starter cranked.

Nice job! My first stick shift was a 1968 F100 Ranger with 3 on the tree that I bought from my Dad. I grew up with that truck. Then I bought his 1961 F100 he sold a long time ago. He thought he would never see it again, but we found it. It also had a 3 on the tree. I had never driven a regular manual transmission until I started working at Carvana. Great Video!

I bought one in summer 2020 with a three on a tree. There is nothing quite like it, and nothing as satisfying as a inline 300 with a three on the tree. It's just magical once you settle into it. I'd drive yours to California and back if you paid for the gas. Those tires are just fine. No joke, call me out? Please!

To get faster shifting, you can grab the shifter down closer to the steering column. It shortens the throws.

Again German what was the most dangerous thing between 1967 and 1974 Ford trucks they put the gas tank behind the seat if you had a bad crash at the tank ruptured gasoline would cover you and the entire cab remember the tank behind the seat before they put it inside the frame in the bed
