Driving from Conneticut to Calfornia, in this video I show you the prep and maintainace that goes into getting a 30 year old volvo 940 across the united stated of america in three weeks.
Myself and my travel partner are summer camp counselors and decided that once camp had finished it would be a good idea to drive across country to his home town, with multiple breakdowns, beers and tears this video shows our long old journey

Great first episode, betty is identical to my volvo here in England. Keep a spare crank postion sensor and fuel pump relay handy on long drives with these cars and they wont go wrong!

Finland. My thoughts as well, changing fuel pump relay did the job for my 940. Cheap but / and very important spare part.

Great first vid! I feel it, I bought an 03 Volvo s80 2.9 back in November outright and it needed a new catalytic converter and now needs a new heater core. But there’s something about older Volvos! Love/hate relationship with mine so far. Named him Sven.

👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Bore da. Had a 740 and 940 Estate 92-4. Waiting for a recovery tomorrow for my 850 Estate bought in 94. Unknown stall fault. RAC no K-Line diagnostic. Waiting 5 hours plus!.Your accent took me back immediately to Aberystwyth University 69 and the happy-go-lucky Welsh lads there. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Well done. Huge amount of space in your 940. Preferred 740 carburettor. Enormous push.

Check your thermostat control valve. Located on the top right hand side of the engine. Mines would cut my 850 out because it would think it was winter and stuff loads of extra fuel into it.

@@dieselcruiser Thank you and again, best wishes. It transpired that it was the split bushes that operate the manual gearshift. After 30 years one had split so I was in third not first. A couple of those and it drives like new. 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Hey dude, you’re living my dream ! I’ve had the idea of going to the USA ( I’m from England ) buying an old Volvo, spending 2/3 months living out the back of it and seeing America ! Have you got a instagram or way I can message you regarding it ? I’m only 21 and finding it real hard to sort all the logistics such as visas, insurance ect ect. Thanks !

Im a brit and i lived in california for 5 years from the age of 20 -25. First of all i love Californians, yeah yo0u find afew crazy but any town or hood i went to from Crenshaw to La Bario always got love. And the girls omg they would hang on every word for that english accent, god made me big headed not to mention the body count. Anyway now as a single dad i had always thought of renting an RV with a couple of mates, boys holiday fathers and first sons. Then drving from east to west coast ... Unfortunately after trump and not being exactly sure weather im driving through democrat or republican states, i wouldnt even risk it. The world is getting crazier and i just couldnt risk driving through some state, breaking down and then hearing invisible Banjo's playing. I love the states and will attempt seeing as much as i can somehow, but now just think theyll be a lot of flights. Sad but they world is gettng crazier and i would never ever risk my Prince
