I was in Houston a little less than 2 weeks ago. Driving there was incredibly aggressive and felt more like a rat race with people aggressively tailgating. I'd still take driving in Houston over El Paso driving any day. Other than driving, it was a nice city with a lot of diversity and amazing food. I hope to visit again soon.
Try North Texas. The traffic here is madness everyday and I 35e going through Carrollton Lewisville Lake Dallas Corinth all throughout to Denton is a killer.
@@user-xj3dl5es1m I live in DFW now after wanting to be closer to friends and family. Surprisingly, people are much more polite than they were in Phoenix while driving. I was surprised at how many people actually let you in, except maybe some that don't. Drivers seem less reckless than they were in Phoenix. The roads definitely are much more narrow and more twisty. They do drive aggressively though, but I think Phoenix was more aggressive. I was in Houston not long ago, and their drivers reminded me of Phoenix drivers. What gets me here is the insane amount of traffic. The commute times are almost as long as in LA, but not as bad. I'm still adjusting to stand still traffic that barely moves. I drive mostly in the Frisco/Plano areas.
21:28 you’re driving right past my office! Houston is an awesome city, once you get to know it. What I like is you can be anyone, nobody’s going to judge you on your looks race or money. Safe trip.
Shout out from Katy! I'm not too far from the Grand Parkway stack interchange and the In-N-Out...waving a virtual hand till you make it back. Safe travels!
31:05 - Texas is very strict with the speed limit that is why many Texans follow the speed limit. Cops will catch you even if you go 2 or 5 above the speed limit. Texas is very different from Californian Freeways where almost everyone drives 5-10 above the limit and the cops don't care. Going 10 or more that's when California cops will start to catch you.
Since I've moved back to Houston a month ago, I drive section of this route everyday from Beltway 8 on the east side. I get off exit 800 just right after where the truck accident happened in the video.
I moved to Houston from Miami once Miami prices went insane. Miami feels more like an actual city even though Houston is bigger. It's because of the density. I like both cities but I aint about to pay what they want to live in Miami in 2023...
What's shocking to me is the astounding width of the I-10 in the western suburbs all the way from Route 99 to the 610 and yet despite the toll lanes being nearly empty, the free lanes are choked with traffic!
LIved in Houston back in the early 90s. Before the Grand Parkway, even before they completely finished Beltway 8 and North Freeway widening (I lived out at FM1960 and North Fwy when it was just 3 lanes on 45 back then). Looks so much different now.
If you drive through Houston again coming from that direction, you should take IH10 to 610 south down to 59 east then back to IH10 lol it’s a better view of pretty much all the heavily infrastructured areas :) you’ll drive thru energy corridor/memorial city, uptown/galleria/river oaks, greenway plaza, the montrose bridges (beautiful at night), med center (seen from 59), and travels along east downtown.
I'm from Houston and went to visit family in Dallas, and I had no clue that Dallas-Fort Worth was so huge. Houston by itself is twice as big as Dallas, but not as big as Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan
@@forwardthinkingtrucker not really.. DFW takes an hour an half with no traffic to go through just like Houston. Drive from south west ft worth to mckinney and you’ll see the land area is every bit as big
@Bigpapapar DFW has more empty land in between though. Houston is literally built up throughout the whole drive except south houston on beltway I Nd 288 areas
I don’t understand how you said Houston is the largest urban sprawl in the country (which is correct) but then you say “Los Angeles would probably out do it”. The square area of Houston is roughly 673 miles while that of L.A.‘s is only 503 miles. :)
@@Hk-qg8bv haha yes i am well aware that Los Angeles is a sprawling metropolis :) lol. however, he stated in the video that Houston has the largest sprawl in the country but LA would probably out do it….. those are contradictory statements. to add to that confusion, Houston has about 170 more miles squared than LA does. If you’ve ever been to Houston, you would know that the population density of LA is much more compacted into a slightly smaller area than Houston is.
I heard you say something about Baytown i was born in Baytown raised in Houston Baytown my dad side of the family is still there but Baytown is not a city to move to because you right them chemical plants are bad for ppl with asthma but baytown is dead asf and small its depressing
PLEASE HELP!!!! Looking to move to Houston Texas, What are the best areas to live with a 16 year old son, he is a good kid, also a Good High School with good football team he loves football. We are Coming from Florida to Houston Texas very very soon.
Houston is diverse but also segregated (not in a bad way) but like in a community way. use this map. find an area like cinco rancho or katy on the west side that has lots of contrast.. avoid areas that are heavily one race.. look for "middle ground" areas like around katy and cinco rancho. dont end up in urban core go for suburbs. you will notice a area north of sugarland that has black and is really nice suburban parts. the main black areas northeast of houson and the southside are bad. they got some SERIOUS hoods in houston.. so stay the crap away from the urban core.. bestneighborhood.org/race-in-houston-tx/
DONT ALABAMA. the racism there is insane and racism, NO WAY. KATY TEXAS yes. diverse, nice and affordable. Katy is west of Houston. Dont end up in Houston proper. you gotta be in Katy or other really nice suburbs like the woodlands. I would solid pass on Birmingham area. You will be shocked eventually in Alabama. economically hoover is great, but.. the social aspect specially being from Florida you will be shocked. katy texas more diverse.. kinder people. Cinco Ranch has some nice areas too.
@@EllaB3824 I know this video old and this comment but yeah he is right I'm born and raised in Houston still here Katy is basically West Houston suburbs you will love Katy or cypress Texas that's west of Houston too just 15 mins from Katy
@@MrTD714 Let just say Houston is feels fresher and more innovative then L.A.lol like your trying to be a smarty pants.I can tell you never been to Houston and if you have why lie and say L.a has more freeways.Ummm Houston has plenty of freeways that are more expansive then L..a lol Katy freeway and even have State hwys that are freeways🤔
@@damoriousmurphy223 i been to Houston many times lol Houston is country asf a big town feel not a city feel and you know the 10 ends in la right there not comparable at all Houston is no way comparable to any city in the west you should start with atlanta only city in the south with that big city vibe is Miami Atlanta drops off fast soon as your put of downtown I been everywhere in this country im just saying and yes Houston is big but lacks the big city vibes
@@damoriousmurphy223 your crazy asf your talking downtown im talking city feel Houston is huge and country and empty San francisco feels bigger than Houston if you havnt been to these places thats cool but don't tell me how Houston is nothing going on there lol but alright you win miami is the only city in the south with the big city feel like LA San fran chi town Philly NY but anyway happy holidays my dude
Also the air quality in Houston is not as bad as you claimed. According to iOS air quality map, which I check pretty often, the air quality in Houston is usually between 30-65 AQI. According to Columbia Climate School, air quality is considered unhealthy when it reaches 150 AQI. Right now, Houston’s AQI is 62. Dallas is 78. Let’s talk about their air quality. 🤣
Years ago I worked for a company in Rosenberg, TX. Just to the west of Houston. That's an industrial area. Never impressed with Houston. I did like lake Conroe to the North. We had a sales meeting and rented jet skies. Had a good time..
Oye Jose o como te llames 65mph eso no es nada para manejar vente aquie a Alemania que no hay limite de velocidad en las autopista y veras que 65 no es nada
You facts are wrong, yes Houston is very large and i thinks its number 4 on largest Cities, Its metroplex is aroud 7 million, DALLAS FT WORTH metroplex is 7 millon 500 thousand, that make DFW metroplex 4 th largest in America, if you dont believe Me look at a satellite view of The night lights and area, it Will verify what i say,
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I'll be done with my bachelors in a few months. I have my associates but I get denied over and over again. We have two cars paid off so I'm not worried about that. It's my mom and I here at home so not having the income to take care of her is stressful. I can't even afford to freeze my damn eggs with a payment plan. I'm so happy you were able to move away from Texas.
Jacksonville is larger than Houston by Land area Houston is bigger in population. And FYI Jacksonville and Duval was consolidated in 1968 before you were even born. So they did that way before Jacksonville crime rate went up. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_area
