I'm glad to see someone drive through the regular neighborhoods of Houston. Everyone else usually focus on the same ones. Theres more to Houston than The Galleria, River Oaks and Midtown
I know H-town all to well, there so many areas in Houston that you can explore like the uptown/galleria area, river oaks, Montrose, upper Kirby,3rd ward, Chinatown, little India district, Texas medical center , museum District and The Heights.
This is what you get from Houston being the only major US city to have NO zoning laws. There are still codes, and some neighborhoods do have private deed restrictions, but there is no actual zoning law in Houston proper at all.
I agree I left Houston after 5 years. I had a 500k home next to a trailer home, I was like WTH??. I moved to Castle Hills that’s a suburb of San Antonio, zoning laws here are high and day here between Houston.
I used to love going to Houston during the summers when I was a kid. It was my summer vacation from school. I’d stay there the whole summer with my older sister and brother-in-law. AstroWorld theme park, NASA, The Galleria, Houston Oilers and Houston Astros at the Astrodome, Battleship of Texas just outside of Houston in San Jacinto, Galveston Island just a few miles from Houston as well, were some of the places I used to go to. Was there back in 2012, but it was just for the day to take a physical for an offshore oil rig job, other than that, I hadn’t been there in ages, I know a lot has changed throughout the years. So many fond memories spending my summers there. Maybe I’ll move there someday and start a new life if God gives me more years of life here on earth. I’ve been fighting cancer for little over a year.
This area you see is about 15 miles from downtown. Houston annex a lot of these unincorporated area around the edge of the city. Developments continue moving further out or back inside the loop giving it a donut effect. The inner city and outer suburbs are nice but everything in between is bland and kind of run down
This is literally the same for Kansas City, Missouri. When you go to the inner city it's very dense but you can go 10 miles from Downtown and it is kind of run down and you can even run into some "rural" parts. It's not like KC is a small city either, the city itself has over 500,000 and the metro has around 2.3 Million. So you end up with a dense inner city but as you go out you can get random pockets of low density or even ruralish parts but when you go out further you end up in dense suburbs such as Blue Springs, Lee's Summit, or even Liberty.
I’m glad you made this video because you do show the REAL side of Houston. Where about 50% of our suburbs still have homes from the 50s-70s and 80s. But the reason why ppl don’t change bc it just works. Yes, you could go to the flashy nice new parts of houston and just make your judgements that way but showing this just goes to show that our city still needs a lot of love and has more potential to be even greater. We’re glad you came to visit and you’re always welcome to come back. Be safe and God bless y’all.
This the very outskirts of the city. That’s like going to NYC and driving in NJ. You should have started in the inner city neighborhoods of Montrose, The Heights, Downtown, Museum District, Rice Village, Upper Kirby, and Uptown. I mean you’re in the boonies.
It's weird😌 but Houston is the type of city that no two sides of town look alike so titling the video implying that this represents how Houston looks as a whole is a little misleading, and may leave some residents who are not even familiar with this type of area offended. This looks foreign When comparing to the area that I live in. It looks like two different cities. To be honest I'm not even familiar with areas that resemble this, so that tells you how different and unique this place can be. I enjoy your videos😌
Bro this is the flyover part of Houston. The real Houston is Inner Loop, Westheimer to Southwest Houston, and the outer parts. That's where everything is.
We have every type of food: Korean, Ethiopian, Japanese, Mexican, Italian, Middle Eastern/Mediterranean, Vietnamese, BBQ, Houston probably got the most places.
Southwest is not were you want to be . I was born and raised in Houston. That School may have been remodeled, and now the kitchen is open. Richmond Ave. Was our back yard. My Dad bought a house out there . The residents use to ride their horses on Richmond Ave. The road was made of dirt , shell's. People had Stables in their yard. It was very beautiful 🌹❤️. Clean. The area was all Country. I'm just Sharing.
Oh my gosh. I drive that all the time. I have an adopted aunt in that area. Houston doesn't have formal zoning, so you get many mixed use areas. Subdivisions may have deed restrictions that govern property use and upkeep, but those apply only to that particular subdivision.
The ease of getting around Houston and its 30+ surrounding cities and unincorporated Harris County makes it a good place to be. Diversity is a huge plus. No matter where you are from you can find other expatriates from your home country or your former state. No zoning helps keep down FRAUD and extortion in the construction industry.
This is part of northwest suburban Houston is actually pretty industrial compared to the other parts. This section is older and peppered with warehouses, cnc shops and oil service companies. Definitely not the nicer part of Northwest Houston like Vintage Park, Champions or other areas further north in the suburbs.
@ 8:15 Heck no the climate is rarely Mild. Its disrespectful heat typically. Winter gives a patch of mild as it swings from very cold mornings to hot afternoons.
But bro the downtown buildings is fire. Houston has some of the coolest freeway skyway's and one of the realist downtown skylines in the usa. But then again there aint much to do in downtown houston its mostly office towers and lacks entertainment and restaurants in its downtown compared to most cities its size. That was my impression when I stayed in h town for 6 months.
@@Gioskywalker1 well usa is slowly turning third world. I've seen roads like this in Miami detroit and La as well as jersey and pa and throughout most of the south. Its sad. Look at Europe its hundreds of years older but yet maintained better.
A lot of your comments you made while driving through some of these areas, came off very racist. I grew up in those areas, Some of us didn't have much, but we made it work, Everyone wasn't as fortunate as you to grow up fancy areas, What's looks depressing and. Boring to you, was home to us, With real good loving, down to earth people.
I think he meant the area was boring from a film making perspective. It’s true that the north side doesn’t have much going on but it was still clean and it’s still probably safe to live there.
As a native Houstonian...you did NOT do our city any justice with this tour lol. The NWest part of the city has nothing to show anyhow. Literally you toured the "flyover" part of town. Smh
I think it's only fair to go to surrounding areas for a complete overview of Houston because this is just making our city look lame.. I mean I hope that's not your intention but it might be ok too cause lol we got too many people coming here anyways.. we have some really nice places to visit and live, just like any city.. ya'll wanna see plain? Go to Lubbock Texas😂😂😂
This is definitely Houston. People from Houston will argue you down but I have been to Houston a billion times and been to the North & South for the most part this is real life Houston.
My god, i dont know why anyone would watch a video by someone who doesnt even research the area theyre visiting but just rambles thru the crappy parts of town and then paints Houston as its all being this way . Every city has areas li ke this and ive lived in ...his Miami....yuk...hialeah...little Havannah...inner city going into little haiti...inner city ,west of Brickell airport area around MIA intl...rows of ugly look alike apartments everywhere...no trees...I 've lived in NYC, Charlotte, Atlanta, Tampa, and the Boston area and each of these metros have large swaths of delapidated housing . Houston has a ton of really nice to beautiful areas that compare to any other city just find better researched you tube videos and youll see...
What part of cities outside Houston are the cuban located at so when I go visit I'm thinking of maybe moving there I moved out of Miami where I was raised to S.C. but I hate the cold weather so much and my auntie just moved to Katy Texas
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS yes sir. Y’all started out leaving jersey village and drove through hoodlum neighborhoods. The heights is nice, galleria area, memorial, rice village, montrose is ok. Nice video though.
Man everyone makes Houston sound like Barbieland. Truth is Houston sucks. I'm a 30 year old virgin, autistic empath, & I despise this city, especially it's suburbs. The worst planning in the world, the most inefficient road system ever built, it's as anti-human as a city can possibly be. It's built strictly for cars yet traffic is horrible everywhere. Find a place a bird could fly to in a minute & it takes half an hour by car. Now I am not a virgin out of karma. I have a feeling if I lived in some European cosmopolitan city I would have gotten plenty of female lovers by now. I am not around females enough for them to find me charming or creepy. Most young adult ladies I do see in public don't even know I'm there.
Honest to god truth is like detroit better than houston. Not saying houston looks rougher than detroit I just think detroit is a much more interesting city to me and gets the full four seasons with falls and springs to die for.
Welcome to suburbia city!! 🤠🤠 Pavement, pavement!! Pavement further than the 👁 could see!! 🛣🛣🛣 And they have parking lots too!! 🤡 35:09 reminds me of PRP/Valley Station.. so you are correct! Bland it is lol #safetravels
OH MY GOD dude you blew my mind, you ended up driving right where I GREW UP when you got to the end of the video at 36;08 of the video if you would have went straight my house would have been on the first road on the right, wow it looks totally different, all of it,the entire place and its because of one thing,TREE'S all the tree's are huge now so it doesnt even look like houston,i was born in houston in 1970 and lived on the north side for 31 yrs right off airline dr. canino and little york rd.and to top it off you ended the video right where i went to high school you were at tidwell and irvington its sam houston high school, one of the worst schools in houston, they tried for several years to just shut it down haha, the first year i went kids that were 18 could buy beer and cigerettes and they were aloud to smoke on campus,so my first yr everyone was standing around smoking and not just cig;s,i was stoned ever morning and at lunch for 4 yrs i had a blast, made it to the 10th grade, skipped every day and not one phone call was made to my mom haha, but yea houston has changed a lot,its mostly mexican as you can see,i grew up with lowriders from elementary thru high school, you talk about good food, and im talking real mexican food, thats one thing i miss so much.but anyways yea houston doesnt look the same all the new roads and tree's make it look totally different.thanks for letting me see my old neighborhood i showed my mom and we watched with our mouthes wide open lol later man,,keep up the great work
Cuando tu novia dijo el ahorro el restaurante que esta ahi se mira se llama el muelle esta rico solo que se tardan mucho en servir la comida porque es de buena calidad 😋😋
I can only see the roads It could be any street of usa. Try to show dome nebourhood with appropriate apparent Like hillcroft Bisfonet Kirkwood Bellasair
Houston is very bland needs more trees especially palm trees they have the weather for it. Florida cities are much much better looking and look more planned
All you can see is "bland", because that's all you're looking for. What you're showing here is only one small part of the whole of Houston. On any given day, I can easily show you hundreds of places that are a world away from what you've shown here.
@@ajjun8307 lol it’s not my business that you commented the same thing on multiple videos? Pretty sure that’s anyones business. to be nice I deleted my comment but you responded after I deleted somehow lol have a nice day though
