My cousin Katya drove from London to Russia alone for a winter vacation in Russia and to escape the lockdown in Britain. 4700km covered in 4 days! I asked her about her life in London and what she thought of modern Russia.

Normaly YT is hiding good videos, like Thomas Wangenheim(Philosophy), or is doing censorship. For this reason you will find them on Libry, Bitchute, or Dlive. Like Dr. Sam Bailey, Amazing Poly, Bodo Schiffmann, David Knight, Alex Jones, Sucharit Bhakdi, Reiner Fuellmich, Heinrich Fiechtner, Samuel Eckert, and so on. Interessting is Robert Spencer or David Wood too.

@@maria.5974 Well it's not always easy to make money in Russia outside of larger cities. If you aren't a frugal person like me and having a lot of money is important to you, it may be difficult to live in some parts of Russia. I am a very frugal person. I pay my bills, I keep food on my table, I love my small home in Russia. I am comfortable and will be happy becoming a citizen here. But I also believe that all people should go where they are truly, truly happy. If a Russian believes they need to live in the UK, then they need to live in the UK. I just knew I needed to be in Europe. America is not for me. For some people, sure. But not for me. And of course, I met my best friend and wife in Russia so ... that helped. Obviously. :) And Russia became my decision. Originally I thought Scotland or Sweden, where my blood is from. But Russia chose me and I am very glad it did. Not everything is perfect here. But no where is perfect. I've been to many places and lived in many places and no other place (for me) is better than here.

I don't know why her mum and dad thinks she is crazy, its not that far, me and my family do 6 thousand miles of road trip around Europe and back home every summer when the kids are on holiday. And driving from UK to the golden triangle, then all the way to Khabarovsk and back through Volgograd, Sochi and St Petersburg is our ultimate road trip dream. The only crazy thing about her journey is she did it in such a small car, we would be doing it in big 4x4 camper van, but not in the winter. Russia is so big and beautiful, I would love to do about 10 road trips to visit every part of Russia. Its always great to spend time with family. The question about the Russian oligarchs wasting their money in London, Paris, Berlin and NY is a feature of the internalised inferiority complex of Russians. Russia for me is the best country in Europe in terms of history, architecture, beauty of nature and the vastness of Russia is unique and I don't get why Russians have the inferiority complex they have. Russians should be having more children, spend their money in developing every part of Russia and travel all over their beautiful country.

You can now get around quarantine regulations having some documents proving either your Russian origin or / and that you are on important business trip. Unfortunately no international trains are running and complying with all quarantine regulations is a nightmare. So car is now the only choice. You can fly though, but than you have to live with all quarantine surprises locally. Easier to take your own car. Done it quite a few times and many times alone.

@virginiasoskin9082
@virginiasoskin9082 3 года назад
@@hank4920 I lived in upstate NY near the Canadian border for 7 years. It was often 20 below zero every night for days or weeks at a time; once it was 35 below. At that temperature cars won't start b/c the motor oil is thick as molasses....now I recall that people put engine block heaters on their cars and plugged them in at night to keep the engines warm enough to start in the morning. Our car was always in a garage so we could start it up OK but without a garage the heaters were a necessity. Houses up there are insulated to withstand extremely low temperatures. Double and triple paned windows, very high rating insulation, etc. Sometimes at night when the temps dipped really low, the house would contract and make a noise like a gun shot. Really LOUD. That happened in several houses I lived in, in winter climates. It scared me the first time I heard it until it was explained to me that this is caused by the house contracting and that it was normal in extreme cold, like below zero. In Texas houses are not insulated to withstand low temperatures like that. So no matter how high you turn the heat, even if the power is still on, the house will leak that heat like a sieve and you will be constantly cold inside, and yes, the pipes can freeze and burst. Ours never did up north. A few nights we did let the sink faucet drip but probably wouldn't have had to. My brother currently has two houses, getting one ready to sell in Little Rock, Arkansas. It got 20" of snow, and the temp dipped below zero; VERY unusual for Little Rock. And one in Missouri, 12 inches of snow, 14 below zero. Both houses are insulated for winter and so neither one had frozen pipes and they didn't lose power either (in the north power companies are ready for winter and you rarely lose power unless there is a severe ice storm or blizzard that knocks down power lines.) I also noticed on news reports that Texans waiting in line for filled propane tanks did not have winter clothing. There were fleece jackets layered over sweatshirt hoodies, several pairs of pajama pants, or just jeans, crocs or athletic shoes on their feet. That is NOT the way to dress for cold weather -- you will be constantly cold. They just don't expect that cold weather so they don't even HAVE parkas, woolen caps or gloves or mittens, or winter boots that are INSULATED. In Florida, we DO have those because we know we may be called north in case of family illness or death up north and we might need that cold weather gear at a moment's notice. We are always ready. Northern NY state is equivalent in weather to St. Petersburg or Moscow, but Siberia is even colder -- that is a very inhospitable climate. I watched a film recently about how a family in Siberia sends their kids to school. The school bus had a 10 mile drive to school. Sometimes the bus broke down in the cold and the driver had to fix it within a half hour or the kids would start getting frostbite even though they wore multiple layers of parkas, gloves, scarves, hats, etc. If the bus did not come to pick them up they had to head home within 15 minutes or they would be in trouble from frostbite. The older kids were never to allow the smallest to fall behind. That is rough to live like that. I don't think the family had a car. A few people rode reindeer, if you can believe that. Crazy.

My family and many of the inhabitants of my state (North Dakota) came from Russia/Ukraine. With the exception of the language, you couldn't tell the difference between the people. Warm/friendly, same mannerisms, appearance. We are much closer to Russia than England or France in this area.

For my fellow Americans: The distance this lady drove is like going from Seattle WA to Key West FL, then turning around and driving to Atlanta GA...while driving on different sides of the road with a steering wheel that is on the opposite side of the vehicle. Crazy stuff, but very impressive.
@philbrand4239
@philbrand4239 3 года назад
Actually, the distance is like driving from Seattle to Jacksonville, FL alone. The 4700 is kilometers, not miles. "Just" 2900 miles, still an impressive drive.

OMG ur mom is so sweet like here in the USA we in the country always feed the crows and songbirds food scraps during the winter. One year we burned a whole ham and a crow flew off the table similar to yours wirh the whole ham bone. It resembled a plane taking off from an aircraft carrier ship haha! Thanks for the videos, cheers!!

Delighted to hear about the drive! I love driving, too, back and forth across USA and from Canada to Guatemala. She looks a lot like her mom. Is she an only child? I also love that she sees life as an adventure rather than a plan--and for sure, planning seems pretty futile with all the changes happening. You young folks will sail on through it all and make a better world regardless.

As a Brit I found this fascinating and heart warming. Also embarrassing when Katya spoke about the drinking culture here. There is too much binge drinking at weekends but my perception is that the weekday night sessions are more in the big cities like London. Not exclusively but more commonly. Brits tend to respect peoples privacy so it comes across as being more reserved. Anyway, the RU-vid algorithm that suggested this video gets a tick in my box. Hope Katya made/makes it back to UK safely - no point in coming back at the moment with Lockdown 3 still going!
@raykeogh1972
@raykeogh1972 3 года назад
I don’t think it’s embarrassing its a way of life like French drink wine, Not everybody goes out and gets drunk, I to go out after work to a pub and socialise with colleagues and I don’t drink. There is always humour around I know Katya said they drink till they can’t stand but that is a small majority. It’s only because those drunks shout the loudest some cause trouble and get the rest their bad name. Ray K UK YNWA.

The driving experience must have been great, and I was enthralled to hear that she changed her summer tyres for winter ones in Pskov! I've done the same too on a few occasions and maybe it was at the same place just off the main road towards the border. I bought my first winter set there, they changed my summer ones, cleaned them, wrapped in plastic with my name on and I left in storage to collect again. I have driven regularly from the south of Spain, via different routes through France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway to Murmansk in Arctic Russia where I live and work (between 6-6500kms). I always plan a journey to take in new experiences and places, and once I cross into Russia I feel 'at home' even though I'm from Wales originally . Forget the misconceptions in the media, in general Russians are some of the most kind, helpful, friendly, welcoming people on the planet! 🤗. I've done the trip in different seasons and weather conditions, and in 3 cars; a VW Passatt, a Hyundai Solaris, and a new Jeep Compass (the comfiest). The border police and migration service have always been professional and friendly too, none of the stereotypical rude and corrupt ones that are portrayed. If you get a chance to drive to and through Russia do it, it will be unforgettable!
