I never realized that San Diego is almost 2 hours away from the hustle and bustle of the Los Angeles Metropolitan area lol. Thanks for uploading and happy trails!!!!
A great drive on a sunny day! Beautiful scenery of the hills, different cityscapes and the ocean. You may run into a bit of traffic but it’s worth the drive.
Very well done video! I think I should say this though: solid lines indicate you can't pass. You crossed 2 lanes with solid lines at 1:46:20 and a few times before that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being critical of your driving. Just calling your attention to that. Drive safe!
Great trip man I'm so impressed about the highway from California you can't drive for pleasurede and I've saw many european cars. I'm from Romania and here the roads really shucks..... I wish I could to move more fast in Los Angeles because I really want do drive in your highways!! I will waiting to see many videos like this one!!:)
I expected a longer trip; I would of estimated a one way trip from San Diego to Los Angeles to take at least 4-5 hours if not more. My sister moved to western Pennsylvania and our voyage from central NJ takes 5-6 hours without traffic.
Now we need a really long drive from NYC to LA or San Diego video; also, can you imagine a video game equivalent that would portray such a long trip?! I would love to see a Grand Theft Auto title set in an urban or suburban jungle area that equals 300-500 square miles of open wilderness and urban sprawl.
Disregard last comment you are good it's a long drive from san diego to los angeles i did it, i was driving my friends BMW z4 and it hurts your back driving that far for sure
Like over here most people will do over speed limit, Around 150 Kmh, and some even more on highways. I drive 100 up to 120 Kmh on highways. On open local roads i must be careful for animals crossing, especially at night, I have Fiat Punto 1.2 litre. Not much, but can reach maybe 170 Kmh top speed. will you do more driving videos like this one ?
Nice video! Love driving videos like this! I have two questions about road rules in The States though. 1. In Sweden you're supposed to drive slower in the right lanes and quicker in the left lanes. In this video it looks like people don't care what lane they're in. I'm talking about the three lanes that all lead to Santa Monica. 2. What is the lane farthest to the left used for?
+///M Power CDFP wow man there is to much dumb drivers in United States, i live in USA 8 years and i dont like american drivers they dont know the laws. In my country Ukraine the slow drivers should move from left lane to the right lane if they see fast driver and everyone doing this.
Sehr interresantes Video.
What is allowed speed limit on US roads and highways? In Slovenia speed limit on highways is 110 to 130 Kmh, in highways tunnels 80 to 100 Kmh. On local roads 50 to 90 Kmh.
The speed limit on the highways in USA are from 60 to 85. In some states its 85 miles in other states its 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 and 85. 85 miles its extremely rare in USA only in one state there is speed limit 85 miles Texas
By the way I am from Ukraine but i moved to live in US 8 years ago. In my Ukraine the speed limit on the highways are 130-150 but police control on Ukrainian highways are extremely rare so drivers in Ukraine always drive 180km-200 km
I am thinking about taking this way from Arizona up to Redondo Beach its only about 30 minutes longer. Do you think its a prettier drive can you see the ocean at all from the interstate?
***** The Pacific Coast Highway (CA-1) starts in Dana Point, not San Clemente. And yes, that and historic 101 on the San Diego County coast line from La Jolla through Oceanside are great scenic routes. I was on the PCH one time back in the late 70s from Long Beach to where it connects with I-5 in Dana Point, and there was some great scenery on that ride. And I rode a North County Transit bus (route 301, I think) up and down that coast a few times to doctor's visits in the northern part of San Diego County in the mid 80s, and that also provided a breathtaking look at the coastline and even the Pacific Ocean.
2:50 SMOKE???? was that from one of those HUGE fires that were burning at the time?????? I was going to say the Blue Cut fire as they called it, that did all that damage back then, but dont know if you were in the right neck of the woods.

when I saw the video, and saw the date, I thought you advised me that you may have video from this years Blue Cut fire., thhis was at least a couple years back, bu this was another huge fire as I see.....
You are not a friend of speed limits, aren't you.? Btw there are are a lot of cars with kaput shock absorber. Don't the people know how dangerous it is? I enjoyed your movie. Greetings from a retired German trucker.
What is the speed limit, in miles per hour, on these interstate roads? I can see people speeding like a SOB and not caring for their fellow travelers lives. ;)
joe glo Actually, it's about four miles before the Basilone Road exit in San Onofre at around milepost 67.5. And when it's open, it can tie up traffic as far back as the Rest Area some seven or eight miles south of the checkpoint, almost back to Oceanside, and in a few years, I think traffic might back up to Oceanside (13-15 miles south of the checkpoint), especially during busy commutes. The checkpoint on I-15 is just as bad, if not worse, especially in the afternoon commute. The checkpoint there just past the Riverside County line tends to back up traffic some 10-15 miles, sometimes as far back as Gopher Canyon Road, and traffic just before Thanksgiving actually backed up all the way to Escondido, some 25-30 miles. And if you think the checkpoint is bad now, in terms of traffic, consider what it would be like if they had not opened up the outside lanes years ago, because I can remember when just the two middle lanes got by when they had the checkpoint open, with agents in each of the outside lanes.
