I wouldnt hesitate renting a car in Aruba. We have rented one every time we have been there and driving is very similar to the USA. Have fun!

Driving at night is more challenging.. Drive slow and I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the island at the start of the trip and driving around for a few hours so that when you drive at night you are more used to the way the roads work. Certain areas will be more difficult so i would stick to dinners at places that are more populated.

I suspect you can. Years ago we used a Garmin and downloaded some Venezuelan maps that also included Aruba. When we go now, we don't usually need driving directions. It is a pretty small island and hard to get lost. As long as you can find your way back to the main road, getting back to your resort (if on Eagle or Palm Beach) shouldn't be all that hard. We have never rented scooters. I am sure it might be okay for getting around but certainly not good if you were trying to pack anything along. I really can't say if I would suggest it or not, we did see quite a few locals riding them. Thanks for watching!

I beleive our reservation was through Alamo/National, but may have also been Budget. This was several years ago. We did book in advance. If you are looking for some more recent information about rentals, there are a couple of Aruba Travel Forums out there, just try doing an internet search for "Aruba Forums" and you should find a bunch of other travelers who have been there recently that can provide insight as well as information about independant rental companies. We rented from the airport since we were staying on the island. However, I think there are some locations near the cruise port for rentals.

They drive on the right in Aruba. For those from North America and continental Europe, it would be no different for them. Perhaps a little challenging for those from the UK. That said, there is very little traffic in Aruba and the driving is very easy. Thanks for watching!
