In this video you can drive along on the A61 Autobahn in the West of Germany. As we leave the Rhine valley and some of its larger cities like Mannheim and Ludwigshafen behind us, we drive Northbound further into the Rhineland-Palatinate. Further North the A61 is actually quite a scenic Autobahn ascending over large hills and crossing deep valleys such as the Mosel Valley.

As you can also see in this video the Autobahn is quite heavy on truck traffic. It's an important European freight corridor connecting the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp with the West of Germany. Because there is so much truck traffic, large parts of the A61 have a 130 km/h speed limit. Because of the many curves and slow truck traffic it's simply not safe to drive faster in most situations.
On a side note: this video was made just a week or 2 before the flooding catastrophe that hit Western Germany in July 2021. Now some parts of the A61 are completely closed for an undetermined amount of time because of flooding damage. It happened about 1 to 1.5 hours North of where we are driving in this video.
