Driving in Germany for the first time | Driving license |  

As a German, I have to point out that you did well within the city, but something quite dangerous on the Autobahn: you NEVER overtake somebody from the right as you did at 8:30 and 8:33 (except in very slow traffic)! One of the reasons we can drive with high speeds on the Autobahn is that we rely on other drivers to follow the rules and an important one is that you may only overtake on the left. The reason for this is that this way the flow of traffic is ordered, so that slow vehicles drive on the right and fast ones always on the left. We do not expect someone to overtake from the right and this can lead to dangerous situations when switching lanes. For the same reason, you should not stay in the middle lane, but move to the rightmost lane if you are not overtaking anyone within the next ~15 seconds or so. This way, faster cars can overtake each other in the left lanes (and there are always cars going faster than you on the Autobahn). If you don't move to the right, this might also provoke other drivers to overtake you from the right - which they absolutely should not do (like at 7:05 and 7:25). On a lighter note: I will probably never be able to drive through a traffic light again without seeing "robots" there 🙂🤖
