I lived in Dumfries from 10 April 1985 until June 1990. I worked at the British Gas Heathhall Depot. On Wednesday 21 December 1988 at approximately 19.10, I was in the shower. My younger Son shouted up the stairs to me regarding the news about the Lockerbie Air Disaster. I quickly dressed and drove to Heathhall Depot, where I was responsible for calling out and deploying the Gas Board Emergency Personnel (all the men available - yes, they were MEN). It was a long, sad night, as most people know. *Rest In Peace. And forever thanks to my colleagues, and all the Emergency Services, Army et al.* Thank you for the somewhat bittersweet memories, Lgfas. All the best. Stay free. Rab 💓 🕊
PS. I have just re-watched your video. So many places I remember, with Family and Friends. Almost a wee tear or two ... Thankfully, Dumfries (along with its inhabitants/Doonhamers) has kept more than most of its character. Thank you, once more, for this beautiful sojourn down Memory Lane. Rab ⏰ 🎲 🌠 👋
Too many old type heritage buildings. Is there any restriction on new modern constructions? Could have added some commentary.Anyways thanks for the road trip.
