Night cities were more beautiful with white lights of Mercury vapor lamps street lights unlike today with orange light of sodium vapor lamps

@Goddard Bolt but the LED, compared with a Fluorescent Tube (not neon) and condensed light i'ts a same thing beacause the light is cold white

Why the interior lights seemed green from the outside in the 1970s?

I always wondered this as well. I have books that showed the green lights all the way into the late 1990s but recently they've been more white. I think it had something to do with the tempered glass used in the buildings. It either keeps the brightness down or strengthens the glass. It certainly has a distinct look!

I'm guessing it's from the camera, you can see that even the streets lights are producing green light like 1:08 to the right of the road
@Gilfilosofia

@@imadeyoureadthis1500 The street lights were green back then because of mercury vapor lamps, cities around the world replaced them with LPS sodium vapor in the 1980s due to light pollution complaints, and LPS sodium vapor is more energy efficient.

@@sterlinsilver mercury vapor lamps are greenish bluish and that’s what they used late 50s to early 70s. Look for bucket style yard lights at night and you’ll see what I’m talking abt.

Play the Manhattan Skyline song from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack while watching this video. Both seem to accommodate each other very well.
