Our recommendation for Handbreak use is as follows. 1.Red traffic lights. 2.On hills. 3.When parked.eg when you pull in at the side of the road to await further instruction when carrying out manouvres. we would advise always be in 1st weather you are 1st or any position in the queue at traffic lights. Further note.You are not under any legal obligation to use the hand brake at anytime other than when parked and leaving your vehicl e for any reason. Also you can be in neutral with foot on footbrake at lights should you wish to do so.
