AWESOME video .... I drove these years ago for Capitol Trailways, and miss them TERRIBLY ..... Nothing like the old 5 speed manuals ... I even drove the 4 speed MC8's too ... They were great ...

Brings back good memories. I drove 8's & 9's for Peter Pan in the early to mid 90's. This is what a bus should be. Smooth power, steady ride and, fun to drive. I drive D's & J 's now. The D s' are a good solid coach. The J's are overpriced & overbuilt very high maintenance prima donnas.

Beautiful ! I own a self converted 1984 MC9 . It's not stick shift and it has a 6V92 engine which is way underpowered 😢. Makes me envious of a stick shift ! Anyway great video ! I love MCIs ! Good luck in all your travels 👍

The first bus I ever drove was a 1984 MC9. That was in 2011 when I was only 19 years of age but the bus was still quite old at the time. Was used mainly on shuttle runs and not long hauls charters. It was an automatic with a 6V92 though. They had another MC9 with an 8V71 but also with an automatic. That was a 1981. The 6V92 felt like it had more power and I liked it (the 1984) better than the 1981. I remember a passenger telling me they thought my tire was leaking but it was the air wipers going. They “hissed” much louder than in the video however and there was a leak under the dash. I was so in awe when I got to finally drive a D or J model. But looking back the 9 was the best of them all. Sure miss the older MCI’s. The J’s have no personality and feel very top heavy compared to the 9. Only benefit with the J’s is they have more get up and go and a bit more cargo storage.

Hi. What's the transmission on the bus looks really smooth. My is really hard to engage the gears.

gawd, the rev's between gear changes sounds like the engine is going to blow up. And in all the videos I've watched about MCI's the brakes on all of them sound the same...sounds like a big fart
