I pack my photography gear into my camper van & head off towards Sweden on an epic landscape photography road trip to buy a new camera. My journey starts in North Shields where I board a ferry to Amsterdam, I then drive south to Kinderdijk before venturing north to Hamburg and ultimately, Sweden.

Uhhh that window reflection is absolutely faszinating! The explanation is actually surprisingly easy: Because the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence, the light rays visible in the reflection on the water were reflected under a different angle by the windows and thus show a different (and higher) part of the sky.
@ThomasHeatonPhoto
@ThomasHeatonPhoto Год назад
That's awesome. thanks for the explanation 👍👍

More likely that the reflections are looking up at the indoor lighting ...

@4th Lensman of the apocalypse I see this in river-side city lights frequently. Streetlights blocked by bridges still have reflections in the river. In this case, ceiling lights might be higher than the window top so not directly visible.

Angle of incidence = angle of reflection…you have x2 mirrors on different angles which are just perfectly positioned to give you a secondary reflection of the sun. So, I have a degree is scientific photography, work for a high-speed cameras manufacturer and am a keen film landscape photographer, but I watch your videos to find out what brand of kettle you have…I’ve asked x4 times and never got an answer. Nice way to keep your subscribers… Seriously though, love your work 🙂

Oh, I love it. Hamburg, my hometown! The staircase is a very popular photo location. I don't get to be there that much any more since I live in the US. Too bad about the diminished lighting even though it causes less light pollution. Those historic harbor warehouses make good subjects. Good seeing Greg, the fifth wheel on the f4.

I always love your videos, Thomas. I'm a huge fan of your work and love the enthusiasm for your art in every episode. I'm a landscape photographer myself with my own camper but not used her yet. I loved this video .I have to say the house by the windmill perplexed me too but oh what a shot. Loved the staircase shot but I'm astonished how bad the energy crisis has affected Germany and the EU. Looking forward to part two of this journey. Regards and respect-Kenny

Most RV campgrounds in the US are car parks with toilettes. That's what an RV campground is. And what were they expecting, herds of wildebeests sweeping across the savanna with Yosemite in the backdrop, in Holland??? The place is flat and underwater.

I love the reflection shot where the reflection has the orange light! If you're ever back in the Netherlands, the dunes are amazing here! For example in the provence Noord-Holland, near Bergen aan Zee or on the islands like Texel and Ameland. And in the provence Drenthe, there's amazing woodlands! Well, I guess every provence has its own beautiful things here!

First up: Great video as always. Looks fun and I am excited for the next part. Just an FYI if you might not have noticed: When you record with your wireless Rode mics it seems to only be left channel. During your regular driving shots the Audio is fine. But when you have the Rode on it's just left Channel. Might changed something with them or something got messed up in Post :-) But I appreciate the video as always.
