I gave a driving lesson on high street with Sophie. If you are learning to drive and the thought of having your driving lesson on a high street scares you, then watch this short video. You will come across lots of hazards whilst driving on a high street, such as cars and vans parked in dangerous places to pedestrians walking on to the road in front of you. So on your driving lesson on a high street, drive slowly and your hazard perception skills will be tested.

It would be interesting to have a test route that went through Newport Pagnell, you get all the highlights in such a small area. Meeting situations on the high street, a perfect loop of 30 roads round by the school and residential area, rural roads leading to Northampton and then 70 dual carriageways going towards the M1. Great place to learn!

Where you have people on highstreets or busy areas , keep an eye on on their head movements as that often is a sign they are wanting to cross. It gives you a heads up to be aware of them. Saying that once you've passed your test and go to pick up friends or have to drive past pubs at closing you need to watch them like a hawk. Also as you will have been a pedestrian think what you would do . Most people will do the same. The other thing is to get eye connection . Say you are turning Into a junction and have slowed to let them cross get thier eyes it makes them feel safe to cross as they know you have stopped for them or are letting them cross. If you are crossing yourself I bet you look at the driver to make sure they have seen you

Are you allowed to cross the solid white line of a bus lane to turn left and right and to enter a driveway?

If it is an entrance you will find there will be a break in the line.

Yes, the same as edge lines along the side of the road, it becomes broken if you’re allowed to cross there, I don’t want any fines or penalty points so if it’s broken I can cross, if it’s solid I’ll stay out of it, unless it’s outside the hours of operation of course as then it becomes the left lane which is the normal driving lane, thank you so much for always replying, it means a lot mate. 🙃

it's interesting, why do you have to pull hand break when you stop on the roundabout? isn't it enough just to press break pedal?

You can just use brake pedal. The advantage of using the handbrake us that you can have your right foot on the throttle ready to go as soon as their is gap you're off as you are ready where if holding the brake you need to do more with your right foot. Not that it's wrong. With modern cars with electric handbrake as soon as you go past the biting point and have some revs you're off . Honestly it doesn't matter which method you use neither is wrong
