A recent video as date shows in video this was Last week.😮 Yea; so much for a learner and instructor to be aware of behind you when driving.😅 We been told to let them go when overtaking. Hopefully i pass September 20th.. Safe driving. :)
1:00 watching this after i failed in crawley for move off - safety.. what are the chances you mentioned that exact example?? lol hoping to nail it on the second try, wish me luck!!
It’s still 6 months by me for Dudley test centre but does seem that some driving instructors can get cancellations booked. Know of someone who failed in May but driving school got that person another test last week and they passed. I started lessons September 22, took theory November 22 and booked a test straight away for May 23 (promised my instructor if he felt I wasn’t ready I’d move it) luckily I did pass first time as I’d have hated waiting again.
Well I tried driving but my dad was a cheapskate and never helped me anything including driving so I gave up driving for 20 and I ride bike ever since. Thank god that feeble old man passed away because they say “if someone doesn’t support you during the worst, then they don’t deserve to be in your best times”. I still regret and cry everyday when I ride my bicycle thinking about my driving. This is another reason I can’t get married therefore I am single and shamed frequently by people. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🤣😭😭😭😭😭
Except for an unmarked roundabout when it's left for left and straight over, middle is overtake If left hand land is busy with those exiting left and right for right..
Just bought my first manual car today, an '04 Subaru WRX with a 5 speed manual. thanks for the tips, i made it home but not without some dodgy takeoffs
As a professional Police DTU Instructor it still puzzles me as to why people who wish to pass their Driving Test still attempt to use family and friends to sort of teach them to drive - Why?
Hi travis my test is coming up soon..its the last test of the day around 3 30pm.. and its overtime slots for examiners.. is there more of a chance they will take you on a smaller easier route rather than go through school traffic? I know that sounds really cheeky but is there more of a chance would you say?
Hi Travis, I passed my driving test today in Crawley where the pass rate was 37%. It was my 7th attempt today. Your videos helped me and motivated me a lot. Thank you so much 🙏
DVLA’s 28 days rebooking policy is horrendous because you’ll make learners forget everything they learned from driving lessons. This has to be dealt with sensibly not foolishly. Moreover main concern would be the theory certificate which expires in 2 years time therefore waiting 5-6 months will not only wait exams but also lose confidence and money too.
Ive passed my theory only 10 lessons in. Because of this issue Ive provisionally booked a test only date available early Dec, St Albans which is outside my town 😩 trying to stay positive.
Thats good. At least UK has time to repaint all those roads ready for test and maybe adjust a few street lights or signs so the tests can be done properly then ..😅
I booked my Practical test once I passed my theory - that was 2nd of March 2024. Earliest date I could get was the 24th of June which thankfully passed first time on. Had I failed it would be likely closer to September i reckon before I could go again - least my instructor thought that :( Like you said James I dont know exactly what can be done other than more examiners being recruited or long term maybe even new test centres setup but that will take lots of time and resources to sort. Hang in there folks keep checking the booking site and cancelation services.
It's a disaster in my area. I waited 6 months for my test, took it yesterday and drove well, but failed because of one mistake involving a lorry parked in the worst place ever, just before a roundabout blocking the lane I needed. I'm 100% ready to pass and drive, but now have to wait at least 6 months unless I can snap a cancellation, because I made just one mistake over some rare hazard I had never encountered.
Definately go for a cancellation similar thing happened to me and I was devastated by the long wait times and the amount of money needed to be invested in not forgetting what I had learnt. Try ask your instructor to get one for you they usually can! Good luck (I passed after going through this process on the 13th of this month so don't lose hope)
@carbonsoul5121 Thank you for the encouragement. I passed my theory test on the 13th of the month on computer #13, I would take my practical test on Friday 13th if I could. If the DVSA introduced early rebooking for people like us who can clearly drive and got very close to passing (eg. just one serious fault), especially when it's over rare hazards like what I had, they could get so many test-ready candidates off the waiting list and finally the list might come down a bit.
@@Midnightwards666 Really feel for you in this situation, especially when you know you can clearly and safely drive. very best of luck for the next one just keep at it mate you will crack it!
German brands, do they have a syringe full of some mysterious chemical that turns the drivers into absolute lunatics when they sit in the driver's seat?
My test centre was 31% but I tried to not think about it because if you have a good drive, you’ll pass. Thankfully I was ok. I’ll always suggest, feel super prepared cos it’ll only help. Even if it means you have a few more lessons, it does pay off 😊
I'll join in and say I failed this morning for the most ridiculous reason. 😂 I was more than ready, drove well throughout with only a few minors. About halfway through a lorry was parked/broken down in the most inconvenient place ever just before a roundabout, forcing me into the wrong lane and I wasn't sure how to deal with it. I think I waited too long to change lane, I should have done better but had it not been for the lorry I would have passed. I got it next time 💪
I'm still improving, learning and still working on my steering control but I choose to continue despite coming up short. Don't know when or how but I will master and improve
Hi Travis! I got a question, so is it worth waiting until I cover all the maneouvres and start mock tests with ny driving instructor before I book the test? Or is it worth to book any slot in, even if its in 3 months time, the moment i get the theory test certificate and look for cancellations earlier? I do have a full driving license for A2 motorbikes, and did car driving lessons way back when i wasnt ready to really be in a car. Ive had my 4th lesson so far, we are currently driving along residential areas, pulling up alongside the road, junctions, 40mph roads and 4 lane roundabouts, mini roundabouts, normal roundabouts. Ive been given a rough estimate of about 20 lessons before Im ready when I had my first lesson. Whatcha think?
With the waiting times being up to 3 to 5 months wait to take a driving test in parts of the UK, I would speak to your instructor about booking a driving test straight after you pass the theory test. They have given you as estimated 20 hours which is not a lot of time. If you are doing 2 hour lessons per week, then it is only 2.5 months away so you would need to look for a test that is about 3 months away. Find out your driving instructor's ADI number so when booking the test you don't double book.
Thank you for this video. I passed over a year ago. I still struggle and abit apprehensive about doing dual carriageways I wasn’t really taught them especially joining from a slip road. This has helped my understanding 😁
Things will always crop up on a test that don’t happen in lessons…on my first test a chap was hooking a caravan up to his car in the middle of the road. The tricky thing is do you wait or pass if you can see it’s clear?
Thanks for videos like this good sir, just passed today first time with four very silly nerve of the day minors but well happy. My test seemed very quick once you got going the time just flew, had an hour lesson prior etc to iron out any concerns. My instructor was fantastic, my advice to anyone taking there test immediately after is just take your time, keep safe, keep calm cannot go wrong, if you muck up the reversing manoeuvres own it and correct then will get a minor but respect from the examiner for attempting to fix it 😊 best of luck all 🫡
Personally if your test time is at busy time in heavy traffic. I wouldn't change the times iid Personally try to have lessons at that time in the area if possible. If not then have lessons in busy traffic say on Saturday when there is something on. Even if it is in different area you are still developing your observation skills. Also try to drive in the area of your test and get to know little land marks that you can use as clues of something coming up etc
Depending on what you find difficult, busy times can be easier to drive in as you're less likely to get hesitation and progress faults given that you're probably going to be stopping at every roundabout due to traffic and be having to drive more slowly. Quiet times can mean that the examiner is looking for you to move more seamlessly from one road to another and be driving near the speed limit where conditions allow.
Hi Trevor great video, just something that's concerning me lately. I've passed my driving test recently with only 3 minors. However I feel like I fluked it. now I'm afraid to drive alone thinking maybe I wasn't ready for my driving test. 😂 Is that a normal feeling and Any advice you can give me or is this a normal feeling I'm having ?
It is normal to feel like this, I cannot think of the exact name or terminology for this feeling. It is a bit like imposter syndrome where you feel you don’t belong there. But just remind yourself that you have had training and that you have passed the standard to drive alone. My tip would be to drive in your local area where you know the roads. This will give you confidence when driving alone.
Totally normal to feel like that. Takes time but it does get better. One day you will just be driving and realise you weren’t even thinking about it. You passed because an examiner watched you and decided you were a good, safe driver. Have a bit of faith in your ability.
Completely normal, I passed first time with 3 minors and I’d not expected to pass because I didn’t believe in myself (but my instructor believed in me) It’s taken me time to gain confidence and a year on I’m still not the most confident of drivers but getting in my car and driving now feels normal. I do now see I’m a careful and safe driver and I can drive and I’ll continue to boost my confidence. It honestly does happen, keep driving, go out at quiet times and keep gaining experience and setting mini targets.
I think it just produces a bad dominoe effect. Other cars from behind do the same, bad driving produces bad driving compliance in the other drivers behind..
Something to bear in mind if your test is early morning. If the roundabouts are very busy then the examiner may extend your test to account for being stuck in traffic. My instructor thought something had happened to us in test as this happened to me. Test was 9.17 on a Saturday morning.
