I drove my daughter and a U-Haul trailer to Anchorage in 2013 at the end of April/first of May, leaving out of the DFW area in Texas. The roads were pretty good along the ALCAN but we got into a pretty good blizzard along the way and ran out of gas once too as it was still in low season and there weren't any gas stations open hardly. It was quite the trip and we saw a lot of bison and caribou along the ALCAN highway. We had some real bonding time to say the least. It started as "Dad, I can do this by myself" to "Dad, I couldn't have done this without you," especially after we started having vehicle issues with her FourRunner west of Whitehorse. We left on a Friday morning around 7am and got into Anchorage on the following Wednesday Night around 9pm. Our trip was about 4000 miles. She is still in Anchorage and I love to visit as often as I can!
@jordanfonville6460 We're pulling our Raptor 352 toy hauler up to AK in July. I have an OEM 50 gallon tank in my F350 plus a 50 gallon auxiliary tank so I can be selective with my diesel purchases as much as possible. I'm adding 560 a/h of lithium batteries to the 400w of solar that came on my Raptor to be augmented as necessary with the on board generator. Just take it slow and easy if you're pulling a trailer and do your pms to your wheel bearing and tires. See ya up there!
Heck yeah! That’s awesome guys. Now that’s some serious motivation, we’re ready to buy an arctic oven tent and stove now and rough it until spring after seeing this. That’s the exact same route we’d take leaving LaPorte. I’m glad you you guys made it safe and what an awesome experience.
Hey Jenkins! We thought of you along the way and thought about seeing your property but it was dark when we drove through your town! Thanks for following along!
So thankful you made it home!! Is that your permanent home? What a beautiful drive, definitely not for the unseasoned driver. Over 3000 miles WOW! Watching you and the Watsons and Millers make those trekks have sparked a desire to visit Alaska some day. It's stunning!
Yes, we are home! We are residents of Alaska. I’m ready to get a cow just so it will tie us down! 😁 We have a business in Michigan and family so we’ll visit them fairly frequently but I have a feeling some will be up to see us as well!
@@mattandmarysadventuresinak Aww thats good to hear!! I hope family does come and visit you, it's always nice to have family see what you've built and enjoy it with you! Thank you for the video. Could you share what kind of tires (winter or studded) on vehicle. Is vehicle 4 wheel drive. HOw did vehicle handle ice and snow on roadway. Any comments on road condition . Thanks again.
recently found your channel. Why did you decide to move from your farm to Alaska? I've driven the Alaskan highway a couple times. It is an amazing drive. I'm guessing you are in Willow. I'm in Willow also.
We are in Wasilla. We came to Alaska in May and were ready to put an offer on property in Willow but then This property in Wasilla came online. We were wanting to homestead and especially my husband was excited to be in Alaska. Probably the biggest pull to Alaska was the abundance of fish and wildlife and the opportunity to live and Adventure outdoors that was here but the beauty of the mountains and the friendliness of the Alaskan people was an added bonus ♥️.
Hi guys! Even with the various videoing issues the scenery and animals you captured are stunning. It's amazing to see the mountains there. Looking forward to this upcoming year, Happy New Year to the whole family. Greetings from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
