Got a chance to drive this amazing Ferrari 308 Michelotto Group 4 replica. It has a 328 4 valve engine with 355 Heads. Owned by QV in Windsor.. thank you so much Phil for letting me drive it!! www.qvlondon.co.uk
I am repeating myself, but Phil and Mike at QV make owning a 308 tolerable. Second, I am so glad you are getting into more varied 308's, each and every one is an individual, this being more individual than most.
Since im very mutch into vintage rally and racing, i knew about this car, it was used in the 70s and early 80s in group 4 and then carried over to group b.
Magnum had to drive the open topped 308, hes a giant. They had to saw the foam in the seat down so he wouldnt seem silly sitting behind the windshield. Now if his 308 was juiced in the power dept then it would have been awesome.
Gorgeous car, scary and exciting!! You're not far from where I live and I often see you filming or the tail end of your cars. Please can you upgrade your mike? Often its up and down in clarity and volume? Keep up to good work👍🏼
Not green... nooooooooo! 🤣🤣🤣 But have to agree, the 308 is one of the prettiest cars ever made, and with the Group 4 arches it looks mega! Just needs painting in red! (The Stratos in plain colours looks fantastic too!)
Yes I agree sir ! Then put a normal person in it that enjoys the car who actually can fit inside the car. I don’t want to hear how his fat ass does not fit any more lol. At least the new guy will have fun. 😊
I've still got a Bburago diecast model of a Group 4 308 somewhere... it was always a favourite as a kid. A full size one would definately be a favourite now!
Wow! What a car! Love the wheel arch extensions, the colour and the noise! Thanks for the 11.20 onwards, i was happy at 10.20-10.30! Glad you didn't have a shunt though, with 3/4" knee clearance, you'd be wheelchair bound for eternity!
Wonderful to see you back in a proper car and enjoying yourself. I hope it inspired you to stay the course with Influenzo. Any news you can share about finding a replacement head, or a whole new donor engine, or on the Lotus?
I'm pretty sure those coffin spoke wheels came from Lister-Bell. They still sell them with their Stratos kits. As far as a tribute Michelotto goes I can understand the inspiration but honestly they were never meant to be "enjoyed" and I think a lot of people fall into the flawed notion that they want a "race car" when really no, they don't. The charm of the stock 308 is that it kinda-sorta looks like a race car but it's actually quite comfortable and civilized as opposed to brutally spartan and harsh with the single goal of getting the machine and it's driver across the line before anyone else. Great to see you shoehorned into one though Jack, the grin on your face is revealing. Maybe you DO want a race car (ha, ha)
I'm almost 2 m, so not very tall, but I'm sure I would rather be below average height than over it. I will not be able to get in this, or any sports car. And everything, realy everything is too low or too small. Everything, if I can use it, will make my back hurt.
0:21 Oh that sounds so sweet! And good idea about Magnum! Imagine if you will: Thomas arrives to the estate in the 308 and sees a big truck exiting. A smiling Higgins informs him that the special delivery has arrives for Mr. Masters entry into the new Hawaii Rally 83 and under no circumstances Tom is allowed to even see the car lol, in a special off limits garage. On an afternoon where Rick calls him to inform Thomas that a suspect he's looking for is at his Club, Thomas tells him to hold him for as long as he can and when he tries to turn on the 308 it doesn't even click!! Desperate he looks towards the special garage and looks towards the camera and smiles! About 2 minutes later after "opening" the door he sees this beauty!! Fast cut to the car being driven from out of the estate and on the highway! Yes!
... with Magnum neatly folded up inside trying to peer out the windscreen. Yeah, no. There was a reason he had the roof off the Ferrari - he didn't fit inside the car. The seat was pushed back as far as it could go. The padding was removed from the seat. At 6'4 his head still poked over the top of the windscreen. A Berlinetta would never have worked.
@@marceld6061 Waaahahhaha! Right you are Marcel! Like with the Honda 600 episode! But, in this case, why not make it a green targa! Just for the episode!
Didn't know about it?! I have a model with the Pioneer livery between the 308GTB and my 246GT-LM. LOL :) BTW, Magnum couldn't have driven the rally car. He was too tall for anything other than a spyder.
Great video jack, hope its not long before we hear some good news about your 308, but come on, you pronounce Padova etc properly so why not Lancia??? Its Lancha not Lanseeya, keep up the good work
I so love being 5`10 now that I am older, having wished I was 6`+ in my younger years, I have no idea how my 6`+ mates fit in their Porsches with a helmet on trackdays, LOL 👍
I'm over 6'4" and I had a BMW Z4M Roadster for about 18 months and I was having to do a real "gangsta lean" with the wheel set to max height just to fit in the damn thing and see the dials!
The ergonomics are shit for sure. Sounds great but that runny cow shit green looks like pea and ham soup someone upchucked. I bet it was great to drive though ignoring the discomfort.
Da fook? And an old 356 or 911 would mean a huge difference in that regard? Unqualified statement. (And I have quite a bit of experience working on Porsches and Ferrari of that era. And I am a huge Porsche fan...)
The GTB is actually quite attractive in that livery. I personally don't mind the green. I hadn't noticed but the GTB looks smaller than the GTS for some reason? Maybe it's just me. Maybe it's just how that car is set up? Either way, thanks for showing up this one. It probably would have performed better if you had the fringe on top. 😂😉
Cool video. Your audio is very inconsistent, mostly muffled, and distracting tho... So here are some thoughts for making better, more consistent audio in all your videos in the future. Maybe consider: For example... In one long segment, you're on the driver side of the car, so to address the camera you need to turn your head to your left. Problem is your mic is clipped to your right lapel (the car side) ... Meaning... away from your mouth. This creates a considerable frequency response shift in some mic pickup patterns. Yours sounds like a cardioid or supercardioid, and those pickup patterns are designed to be less responsive to (or reject) off-axis sounds. The resulting sound character of sounds that come from directions other than directly in front of a cardioid or supercardioid is a muffled sound. So when your head is turned to camera your dialogue shifts to sound like you're speaking through a thick blanket, and then goes clear and full-range when you briefly look away from camera to the car as you discuss. Head turns back to camera, and it's muffled again. Over and over throughout. If this were an Omni patterned mic, this would not be a problem... There are tradeoffs with Omni, tho. But for cardioids (which are probably best for your application) , it's very distracting. There are 2 solutions... Either: 1. Since it appears your mic clip favors a side-pointed microohone position, just note your lav's position for every shot and swap its location to the camera side of your jacket each time you change camera angles or... 2. Figure out a way to have it clipped center (like to the top of your zipper location) and pointing straight up, neither left nor right. Both approaches will help minimize the wildly shifting frequency response of your dialogue in this video, and improve your audio overall, since you'll be getting more full-range response more of the time. Hope this helps.
Had harnesses fitted into my Subaru when I uprated the engine, suspension, brakes but in reality they are a pain and removed them and reverted to a seatbelt
I still have a dinky toy of the red and blue Pioneer liveried car. I'd like to find the most miserable 308 GTBi out there and restomod it to drive like a rally spec car and have that stance and lightness about it. But I would retain the standard car's instrument binnacle and I'm not too keen on green. Agree 100% about the Campagnolos though.
I'm sorry Jack, but you getting into the car was like watching someone trying to put on a pair of wet Levis that were a size too small. LOL! Beautiful fun car though. Love the Campy wheels! When I saw the pic on Instagram my first thought was that it was a Lancia!
That looks very purposeful doesn’t it... Lovely car , you deserve a little fun at the mo Jack, this must have been a nice distraction from the influenzo...👍🏻
I couldn't live with that colour scheme, it looks ghastly to me but each to their own, the 308 rally cars were amazing looking things though, I'd love to own that car, I'd change the colour as a matter of urgency hahah, not sure I'd fit in it though, Im 6'3.
Video could have done with some background music. Joking of course! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy the wonderful intake sound. This is what happens when a true petrol head makes car videos instead of some playstation junkie kid. Hoping to hear good news re the head too?
Great stuff,I love everything about this car apart from looking like an eight year old sat in a babies pram although I’m 5,11 so I would fit better.Hopefully get an update on your cylinder head soon 😉
