From my personal experience, I would say the W126 was more comfortable, had better build quality and felt like a true luxury barge. It was just more refined. The E23 on the other hand had more electronics compared to the W126. The trim materials used felt a grade lower compared to the W126. However it was a drivers car. The car was meant to be driven by yourself and it does put a smile on your face. The W126 offered a quiet, magic carpet ride which was meant to be enjoyed sitting at the back while being chauffeured. Both were just different animals.
The w126 wasn’t all that quiet on in the inside!! Build quality yes but only a 4 speed auto meant that in the 3L Petrol engine was revving at 3000 RPM at only 60mph ?? ….this also meant they were thirsty machines!! The W126 is a very elegant looking car from all angles with fantastic build quality but it’s not a car you’d travel large distances in nowadays…. It’s quite tiring!
@@owenb1t5014the E23 came with a 3 speed and later with a 4 speed automatic transmission. So they were also high revving. Overall the w126 were quieter because they were just better made and had better sound insulation.
I have an 83 E23 735iA which I have owned for 30 years. It's in storage at the moment. They are a fantastic car in many ways. This car is unusual as it has the older shark nose with the revised dash and much of the trim. BMW used to bring out revisions throught the model life.
Hi. We gutted out old system, and installed a new universal all-in-one unit (kinda like the ones you find on old taxis) behind the dash, with fresh ducting to the stock vents, as well as the stock switches. It's held up well 10 years on, and is much stronger than the original setup (global warming wasn't a thing back then).
i just bought an e23 manual 735i few month ago in johor, but still repairing , parts is quite hard to find in malaysia. even some "old bmw" repair workshop dont take my car to repair due to "parts is very hard to find or need to queue for 1-2 year" lol i think they just dont want to repair old car, lots of work there 🤣
I didn't know that the BMW 7 Series E23 was sold in Malaysia (That's not true. BMW wasn't sold in Malaysia until 2003). I'm from the Philippines, but they don't sell that in my country because BMW, including that model, doesn't meet vehicle standards in the Philippines in that time (neother did the E32) until BMW began sales in the Philippines in the '90s followed by Audi. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W126 is way better than the BMW 7 Series E23 as it became the flagship luxury sedan in the 1980s.
