Aside from the lack of shoulders, why is this scary?

@@Insertgenericusernamehere809 I’m not or have ever been a fan of bridges period even though I cross em. This is the type of bridge that you’re looking up into the air on an incline as you climb it with water all around and low shoulders and this was my first solo trip in a semi. Most truckers will try to get inside lanes unless you’re forced to ride the shoulder. Also on the east coast in West Virginia, North Carolina they have some adventures for thrill seekers. They have areas around mountains that are single lanes overextended that’s really a single lane that will have you squeezing cheeks pause. One night I was casually coming thru those areas at night and I just happened to look over the side of my right window and all I saw was a valley drop, somehow I had taken a route along a cliff. Mackinac bridge has low shoulders but no incline just long like that bridge.

@@Livetruckingwithjim Louisiana is one of the poorest states, I remember as a kid in the 80’s I-10 being such a crappy highway.

I have never seen anything dangerous about it. You must not have crossed the Huey P. Long Bridge in New Orleans before they widened it.

It does need some TLC but you get a beautiful view from the top .

@@johnharris8191Probably because the guard rails are extremely low. A semi can easily tilt off or any vehicle for that matter.

Personally, I love the view from the top of the bridge, but that bridge does have a reputation of scaring the crap out of people

I couldn't agree more. I travel from Baton Rouge to Houston all the time and this bridge is the least of my concern.

The one I have seen in Korea makes this one look like a kiddie ride. It made number 5 on the scariest bridges in the world.

Is the taxes would actually go where they’re supposed to although some people wouldn’t look at it that way personally I don’t have an issue with the bridge although it is getting hard to trust any bridge here lately, but I do love the view from the top of that bridge.

I see no issue with this bridge but the old (before it was widened) Huey P. Long Bridge in New Orleans was nerve wrecking.

Louisiana is not really known for maintaining infrastructure all that well so not really surprised but it must be built well it survived quite a few big hurricanes or it’s just been very lucky

In my 42+ years of driving, this bridge is the **ONLY** place i've EVER gotten a speeding ticket (59mph, 2019). Notice there's only 1 sign (50mph), & it's well b4 the bridge! I've been told I could have fought this ticket cuz the other side of the bridge (from the sign) is a different police jurisdiction. Not sure about that, but it IS a (#*@!) speed trap!

this isn't an elevated highway though, just an ancient poorly designed bridge that's falling apart and over 65 years old.

I just stay on 10 I actually enjoy the view from top of the bridge

I have never been over the bridge in St. Petersburg Lake Charles quite a few times. Nice Snoqualmie is a beautiful area.

Tampa Bay Bridge- not my idea of fun.

For me, it seems very high, very open, and feels a bit too long long to up and over it. Just my reaction.

Those between Bc And PA are in much better shape Even the rainbow bridge with 2 lanesheading south to PA which is about 20 older than lake charles i 10 piece of crap

Normally when I go over that bridge I am slightly on the heavy side and if I hit the speed limit, I am lucky.

That old bridge has lasted pretty good but could definitely use some improvements

​@@Livetruckingwithjim Like wider travel lanes, a breakdown lane shoulder each way, and tall wall jersey barrier parapet walls. That railing looks like it cannot even stop a Toyota!

It was originally the US 90 bridge when it was built in the late 40s-early 50s. Louisiana is in the early stages of developing a replacement.

There is another bridge on the other side of town, but personally, I enjoy the view from the top of the Lake Charles Bridge

@@Livetruckingwithjim that was constructed almost a decade after this one became part of the system, it’s highly unlikely that was part of the original plans.

Rickety old bridge, but it has a nice view from the top

I live in Lake Charles. A 18 wheeler went through the rails on the Lake Charles side and landed near the boat ramp on the North side. The driver didn't survive.

Bridge is not in the best condition. Personally, I love the view from the top.

It probably won't be done until it has to be closed to all traffic due to unsafe conditions. It looks over 90 years old already!

These bridges wouldn’t be so bad if Louisiana didn’t have the reputation of not really taking care of their roads

I absolutely agree at that time. I was still learning the audio balance thing still learning, but it is getting better.
