Driving the Maloja Pass, from Sankt Moritz in Switzerland to Chiavenna in Italy. There are a few hairpin turns just after leaving the town of Maloja, Switzerland, after which the road leads through various small scenic towns in both Switzerland and Italy.

This is my favourite pass in the alps. Not so much because of the street layout but because of the scenery. When you start in the Silvaplana basin it changes from alpine to almost boreal to mediterranean environment within just a few dozen kilometres. It gets almost unreal at the end with the waterfalls and plants, especially in late spring. It's just a pity that the old border crossing has been abandoned, that was also a quite unique and picturesque one.

It sounds like a hybrid vehicle, has that electric whine and very rapid acceleration. Thought I heard a combustion engine kick in during the truck overtake. It does an awesome job and well driven too.

Thankyou for these wonderful videos.... UHD 4K video and natural ambient sound (No terrible muzak to spoil it... thankyou). I am truly amazed (and a little jealous) at the stunning scenery and the cleanliness of Switzerland... I hope one day to win the Euro Lottery so I too can drive these amazing passes and soak in the scenery.... at the moment I make do with V-Cycling to these wonderful road trips- infinitely better than V-Cycling to MTV. Many many thanks for all your efforts.

Wonderful trip along the seas and the serpentines at Maloja Pass. I travel this way just before breakfast using Google Maps on an iPad and parallel your video on TV. Perfect doku, I saw any house beside the street from above too. Tip: put the name of villages in the video for a better orientation.

That was one amazing drive. At the beginning I thought we were at the valley floor, only to discover it was a Pass, and then the hairpin bends to the bottom. Switzerland, one of my favourite countries. That and several others in Europe.

You are indeed at the valley floor in the beginning. The Oberengadin valley stretches from Zernez at 1470m up to Maloja at 1840m and is almost 50km long. After Maloya the valley drops down impressively and continues under the name Bergell down into Italy. As a young man in the 80ies I cycled Zuoz-Maloja several times: I am sure it is still a grand experience!
