7/8/24 Beryl visited our town. My husband likes to get out during the worst part and chase it. Join us as we drive down to Galveston. Check out our home damages at the end
It is insane how unprepared a coastal community like Galveston is in the event of a hurricane. I was amazed at the floods, the power outages and the evac recommendation. This was a 1 on a scale of 5... In Florida a Cat 1 you still see people driving around like its any other day.
It was not supposed to come anywhere near us here in Galveston, and the flooding here happens with just a small rain. No one was evacuated. And no one can prep for main power to be out. We can have generators which we do. So unprepared BS.
I just wanted to say amazing footage for what you could get glad you guys made it home an safe without incidents. But for the love of god from a junior volunteer firefighter in PA. Plsss listen to local law enforcement an emergency personnel during those storms because even severe thunderstorms that aren’t hurricanes or anything real big cause good amounts of damage an dangerous situations. Me personally I’ve seen a raised truck get taken off the road by rushing water that wasn’t even 4 inches. It’s doesn’t take a lot an once waters covering the rd it’s hard to know what’s going on underneath. Amazing coverage on the video tho 🙏👍
So it was an intentional choice to leave the safety of your home to drive into Galveston Island and onto Seawall as the hurricane hit not because you all were called out do to your work (based on how the video started). I see the comments of “I am the first responder” like you all wouldn’t still need assistance if you got yourselves in a dangerous situation y’all weren’t prepared to handle (ex. The trees, power lines, transformers, etc. that were coming down could have hit your vehicle while driving). But hey. Glad you all made it back safe.
Now why would you do that?? Not only putting yalls lives in danger but the lives of first responders if something were to happen…Not very smart. SMH 🤦🏽♂️
i am the first responder... im a county sheriff deputy lol. i have to be out in it anyways. my husband runs a tow business, being out in this is our living.... but thanks
lets break this down. im a country sheriff, i HAVE to be out in it anyways. my husband runs a tow business, so once again, we have to do this to make a living.
I'm not sure Texas could handle a Category 5 Hurricane or a 4...I have been in Texas all my life 57 yrs...I'm not sure what the Hurricane were like in the 60's before I was born in 67 but not sure if a Category 5 has hit in Texas back then.
@@chogan201you're partially correct. We haven't been hit by a category 5, we have however experienced nine category 4s. Well me and you both only experienced Harvey lol, but six years before you were born was hurricane Carla which also made landfall at a category 4.
