Wilkinsburg is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, with a population of 15,930 as of the 2010 census. Wilkinsburg is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The borough of Wilkinsburg was named for John Wilkins Jr., a United States Army officer who served as Quartermaster General of the United States Army from 1796 to 1802.
The median income for a household in the borough was $26,621, and the median income for a family was $33,412. Males had a median income of $26,813 versus $26,196 for females. The per capita income was $16,890. About 15.9% of families and 18.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 30.8% of those under age 18 and 14.2% of those age 65 or over.

Thanks for this. I grew up in Wburg, on Wallace Ave that runs parallel to Penn Ave, 1956 to 1967. I recognized a few of the remaining buildings on Penn Ave during the first 4 minutes. So much is gone, changed or demolished. It certainly was a great little town to grow up in. When the steel mills closed and many jobs left the area, Wburg went downhill. The further west you drove, the better the buildings looked along each side of the road.

I was surprised how much of it is still there. ( Wilkinsburg HS 1968)

This series is well researched. But if I can make a reservation, the title of this mix: Lincoln Highway Part 21b-Pennsylvania, Allegheny County- is kind of misleading. I am researching The Lincoln Highway and thought that I found a playlist of it as it goes through Wilkinsburg, PA. Not a playlist of Wilkinsburg itself. Thank you for the series though.
