Thanks for the video! I wanted some video and commentary, re: log road conditions from Port Hard to Cape Scott Provincial Park and you video did the job! 👏🏼 Happy trails! ☀
Awesome video! I wish I had seen this before I drove out there in February. You are 100% correct- everyone makes it sound so scary and it’s really not that bad. I took my 1992 shuttle bus there with absolutely no trouble. I went super slow and careful, but made it without a single problem. Well worth the trip. Thanks for sharing
Amazing video. Just what Ive been looking for. I've been worried about driving there and your video has helped reassure me. Taking the trip with my wife in June this year
I've been up there on a motorcycle a few times. During the rainy season, that road can get pretty slick. Some of the steep hills can be a bit dicey. Other than that, it's a cruise. The things I would strongly recommend are a portable air compressor and a tire plug kit. The sharp rocks on that road have put many holes in tires. There is no cell service for the entire 70 kms, from the highway to the trailhead. Invest in a satellite communicator, if you're going to do trips like this. Zoleo and Garmin make two of the better ones, although there are others. The Scarlet Ibis Pub (50 kms from the highway) have small cabins to rent. Theyre about $80 a night. Reservations are strongly recommended, during the summer. Great people there. From the pub, it's just another 20 kms to San Josef Bay trailhead. There's a campground about 200 meters from the trailhead. The man that owns it is named Doug. He's suffering from dementia, so be patient. He's one of the nicest people youll ever meet. Absolute heart of gold. There's a campground before that, but its not maintained at all. Make sure you have enough fuel. Sometimes the general store has fuel, sometimes it doesnt. I wouldnt bet on it.
Not sure when this was posted but the road can get shit. 3 weeks ago My buddy was on the way to Raft Cove and he smashed a hole in his oil tank and was a big pain in the butt.
