I used to go driving a few hours during the weekends before, it is very relaxing to just go down the highway at "almost" legal speed at night with very little traffic and music blasting.

I do it for my entire driving life, which is more than 15 years now :) when I was younger, there were more often speeding blasts, now it's rarer, I'm more in the mode of controling and cruising....that's why driving old school automatic, which is one of our cars, is something I can't do all the time because lack of the gear change in conventional way makes me really bored....

I drove all night (Cindy Lauper) I’m a Citroën C1 driver. For me this little economy box is the 2CV of our time. Easy to maintain and repair, reliable and nice to drive. No rush, no hectic. No power steering, no air conditioning, winding windows etc… Have a nice and relaxing trip everyone out there… Martin/Germany

Until July I had a 2.0 HDI 163bhp automatic C5 X7. In the 20 months i had it i did 16,000 miles. The Yaris before it i had for a year and did about 5,000 miles. I loved driving Sid the C5, and i wd have another in an instant. It made my driving experience close on perfect: comfortable, powerful enough, and very calming - if someone pushes in, you see them bouncing around on Britain's appalling roads and think "I'll barely notice all those potholes," and just let them get on with exploding their blood pressure. Your vid made me think about the good luck we have in freedom to travel at will.

That is very, very good content. We take this liberty for granted, yet we are indeed part of this very small group of humans who experience speed of travel and mobility that even an emperor would never have deeamed of. Thank for actually stopping and helping us consider this fact. Plus I crave the British accent so listening to you is extremely pleasant... And I happen to really like Portugal.... and Citroën cars which brought me to your channel. I do like driving fast expecially at night. Thank you and warm regards from France ! Massive thumbs up there!

As for the autonomous vehicle thing, why? seriously, what is the point of autonomous vehicles? If someone doesn't want to control the vehicle they are in they should get a bus or train -simple.

I’m a bit of both. Just depends. I have before on a day off from work woke up and think right! I want to drive so look at Google and pick a location that looks good to drive too (wales, Peak District) both within a couple of hours drive from me, and just go on a bit of an adventure for the day. Just cruising. Then again on flip side I’ve done track days and enjoy a good blast at certain times.

Young people are so so sad… They’re fine with living their lives in front of a screen, develop no technical skills whatsoever, no sense of adventure, nothing spontaneous in their lives… I don’t own exotic, powerful cars but I got to experience some cars an I appreciate every one of them. Long trips- Audi A4 B9 2.0 TDI S-tronic 190 ps or the C5 Tourer Exclusive 2.0 hdi 163ps automatic (depending on Roads and Luggage) for Winter fun - BMW 330 E46(in-line 6 231ps), Summer Fun - Hyundai i20N (204ps mechanical LSD) and the Allrounder daily the Magnificent 2004 Audi A4 B6 Avant with the best engine ever built- the 1.9 TDI Euro3, no DPF for those sweet Greta tears. I work on them, trying to keep them as long as I can, it’s practically my only hobby. What else was I gonna do? Shoot people in video games? I’m too old for that, almost 40 😅

There was a time when I thought that a car has to have a powerful engine and be fast to be fun. I guess thanks to social pressure. But time goes on and I think otherwise. Citroen DS is a great car and it doesn't have a powerful engine. The same I can apply to Renault Twingo or even the only Audi I like which is Audi A2. There are japanese kei cars or minivans too.

Cool . The fun as gone out of owning a car , people just own a car for work or family . And the government don't want you driving about for no apparent reason . If you have a car meet the police are there. And I am in my 60tish . Look at the new European law monitoring your speed , and the UK government looking at pay per mile ?. Big brother is watching you ?.

Unfortunately, motorists are easy targets for a quick buck for the authorities, that's true. I think most of us pay for the attitude of the Fast&Furious crowd who charge everywhere at top speed and loud exhausts and just annoy everyone, and it's thanks to them we have sleeping policemen and speed cameras (not just in the UK, BTW). Let me just say that it just annoys me when it's overly politicized. I remember rewatching Top Gear and Clarkson complaining about speed cameras like a little b*tch and when the Tories came into power he shut the f*ck up. I have no skin in the game because I don't live in the UK, and I hate nearly all politicians equally, so we should be critical no matter who is in power.

It depends on your attitude to other road users first. I find a lot of people who drive get wound up by the most trivial issues they come across. Driving gave me freedom to chose where I worked and where I lived. Having to get on two separate buses just to get to and from a job was soul destroying. I enjoy some driving but at best tolerate others. It is a freedom and this will get me into trouble, a right. It is something there are a lot of people who I would class as the virtuous well off middle class who are trying to pass guilt onto anyone who dares stick up for the right to own a car. I have been branded a 'carnazi' for daring to say this. Enjoy your freedom while you can as before these loud and self righteous people take it away. I understand the issues but these unimaginative fools just talk of banning because they see everything in simple black and white terms. OK rant over...
@comcarclub
@comcarclub День назад
@@issigonis975the best attitude, IMHO, is to ignore the extremes. I really mean this, the extremes are just as bad. I can't stand anti-car people who are either singletons with no kids and think everyone should cycle as if we all lived in Amsterdam and had their time and income, just as much as I loathe that little b*tch Jeremy Clarkson and his hordes of bootlickers, who see driving as a right (it isn't, it's something you earn and can lose at any moment if you behave like a tit too often) and look down on those who don't fawn over big V8s or catch trains every now and then as less valuable people.

@@Proton622 I used to have one, but it was just not good enough on the motorway. But the 1.6hdi is a brilliant motor. It's durable and very frugal, I use to get great numbers. I utterly loved my 1.6hdi, but in my case, the 2.0hdi made more sense because I do long distance with a full car.

You make good points, but you're not cynical enough. When our leaders want us to stop driving and succumb to self-driving vehicles, they will encourage us to do so. Encouragements such as informing you that human drivers are more dangerous than AI drivers, that your insurance will go way down if you choose self-driving car and there will be monetary incentives for buyers of 100% level 5 self driving cars. If they want to get you, they'll get you and your car and your fun.
