By researching CCN, my wife and I bought a 2018 RX350, Japan made, AWD, 49k miles super clean. My mechanic checked it out . "If you don't buy it, I will. " He scoped it, used a fancy paint scan tool to look for accident issues. Put it on the lift , no rust, leaks- nothing. It looks great sitting next to my second gen , 2011 Tacoma. They both hum like sewing machines. "Life is good!".
I was blessed to have brought my 01 limited 4runner to the TCCN shop last year. Back then, it wasn't as busy as now, but still, you need to schedule at least 1 month in advance. AMD listed all the parts(w/ parts#) and labor costs needed for the service and gave all his recommendations to me.
If the owners drive it during the winter, they should consider using fluid film or a similar product under the undercarriage and frame. That should prevent rust issues that 4Runners are so well known for.
100% I agree. Up in Canada we have a product called Krown that's very similar. Always oil spray, and avoid any undercoating. Oil spray it every year and it will be fine.
Our 2005 4runner has the same original transmission fluid. The dealership said we didn’t have to change it because it was lifetime fluid so we fell for it but in reality the vehicle has 237k miles and runs absolutely fine. No problems whatsoever.
I love it. My buddy in high school had one of these sophomore, junior and senior year; We'd hit the mountain trails in the cascades (I had a '93 Cherokee inline 6) lots of great memories getting up to all sorts of insane shenanigans.
Greetings from Greece! It's true, we never had a Toyota 4runner model here, and i think most local shops wouldn't touch a car like this in Greece, probably due to parts supply being absent for the specific model. A curious question, does the US market have any Toyota model equipped with the 1000cc 1KR-FE engine? Greece is full of them! Smaller city cars like the toyota yaris/ daihatsu cuore/ citroen C1/ toyota aygo etc, all share this same engine in the European market.
That is unbelievable condition. I have a Black 2002 4runner and it gets USED on small mountain roads, and on fire trails so it looks rough, but if it looked like the one in the video I might be afraid to take it somewhere. Museum piece.
Far better than the previous generation. I owned a '92 with a 3.0L, dead reliable but couldn't get out of its own way; talking about 15 seconds to 60mph.
I had a mint 3rd gen 4Runner that some person totaled!!! Would love another one like this! Great example, hope they can keep it clean / rust free in IL - undercoat with Lanolin (Blaster - Ultra Shield) and keep it going! Thanks for the video!
After I got the 1st 4Runner we were extremely happy and now we only have 4Runners. Especially the way Mrs drives its the best vehicle for us. She has no sympathy on cars.
My cousin back home has a Hilux Surf which is basically the same thing but diesel. Probably my favorite 4Runner of all time and I’ve never seen another one
Nice tidbit on the MAF sensor. Last year I had the same issue on my 01 Corolla. I had a lean code, but the calc load was 65% at WOT. replaced the MAF with OEM, fixed the issue. Got the ltft to 0.
So a gentleman that can afford a vacation home overseas, has an old car as his vacation car. Think about that next time you are looking down that 72 months car loan because you need the latest and greats.
What I love about my 2001 5.3 V8 with 250k no mod's Silverado is [ PARTs ] that are Cheap Available Well Made and I can for the most part Do it Myself ]+[ Worst thing is the White Paint flaking off.
Look up a landcruiser 70 series, still low tech no fancy tech. Still have a actual functioning cigarette lighter and slide A/C controls, pull up knobs on each door. But only available on the world market ,not north america.
Even more mundane, my wife's 2002 Camry that just turned 35K miles. Inside looks new. One little glitch on the right front bumper that you have to stare it for a while to notice. My mechanic always reminds me that if I ever decide to sell it he wants first dibs. Took it for state inspection last month. Passed with no issues. The inspector wanted to buy it. Current tires are 12 years old but look new. Only repair ever was for an O2 sensor, which took me five minutes to replace as it's right on the top front of the engine.
Hey greetings! I know this is completely off topic, but...what tire would you recommend for a 2017 Rav 4 LE? I stay in Ohio where the weather can swing either way. Kinda looking for all season/all weather tires that won't cost me an arm, leg, and gallbladder. Lol.
Excellent car... I have a 2002 4runner with 323,000 miles and I love it... I will be buried in it.... 😁👍 The single thing I dont like of the 2001 and 2002 is the brake buster/ABS its super expensive 😢
AMD thank God for your existence in life telling us the truth about automotive❤🎉 I'm Davidson John chidiebere from Nigeria auto an auto technician please I'm willing to work with you so I can be a certified technician 💯
If you want a good Toyota you need to go back to the late 1980’s to the early 1990’s. I have a 1991 Toyota surpa straight 6 3 lire turbo and it runs like a Swiss clock. I am in the UK
Toyota was solid and reliable until 2009. My opinion based on the fleet I own. (8) From 1993-2021. I'm not happy or at least expecting 350k miles on the newer ones. My 2010 has 265k so there's hope. But the 2020's, I'm not sure they'll last.
If TOYOTA will re-launch the production of this model, I guess they will sell more of it than the most of their 2024 boring models..which all look the same😁
Greece is surrounded by ocean.. salt water.. ocean.. must of not been near the coast too much I guess.. living anywhere near the coast rust is a MAJOR problem.. just the ocean air carries salt and deposits a salty film everywhere.
Somebody already commented on this but it bothers me too much I need to say it again -----> it's not IT'S LIFE and it's not IT'S CONDITION it's ITS because IT'S is the same as IT IS or IT HAS and ITS is a possessive pronoun like HIS or HERS but for nouns that don't have a defined gender. Thank you and nice truck.
😂 I’m sure you suffered a lot being part of the West throughout Cold War, while countries like Romania and Bulgaria flourished with all the benefits of the Soviet Union 😂
Salting roads should be criminal, humans can send probes to mars and cant figure out how to keep roads cleared without destroying the road and cars 🤷♂️ just wondering
