I'm 70 and have never wished to live on the side, on top, or below a sloping/hillside landscape. I've witnessed many of these occurrences since childhood. Rain-drenched soil is unstable, especially on a slope... Oso/Darrington was one helluva landslide that wiped out an entire community and there were warnings about the structure of the hillside. Pretty sad when you ignore the warnings, but then, hindsight is always 20/20.
Same thing happened to a house on W Perkins Lane in Seattle recently. Don’t build at the top of bluff or at foot of bluff. Structures aren’t meant to disturb natural flow on slopes. Maybe if you put a parachute on house at top of bluff or rollers on house at bottom of slope. Not to mention the natural creep, slippage of the land that’s enough to snap water mains.
The best way to get a laugh out of god is to tell it your future plans. Why does this god you speak of always end up being the fixer in demand? Why isn't it a preventer of catastrophe? Why is this god petitioned to intervene in something man did to himself? Just exactly what is the role of this god and what can this god provide in the actual way of reparation? If one is going to build on a slippery slope, one should not expect that slope to remain when drenched and soaked by water. I'm 70 and have never considered living on the side of a slope, nor under or on top of said slope/hillside. One never knows when that slope is going to slide. so the saying... slippery slope.
@@ricksneed4171 the way in what I said was meant to be compassionate. I agree that people should not build a home that is potentially not a sure foundation. You seem to be venting over something in your past about God. If you want me to be direct, well then here goes. You are 70 and time is running out to repent and seek the Lord yourself. It is appointed for man once to die than after this the judgement. Today is the day of salvation. Seek the Lord while He may be found.
@@ebf1003 Well, considering im not wealthy and those who owned the home obviously have more money than I do, are you honestly suggesting I give money? Home owners insurance. Anybody, anybody, Buehler, anybody!
Another case of a slippery slope. But the view..................... Sad, glad no one was injured.... Bet the neighbors aren't going to be feeling comfortable for the next forever...Sleepless, restless nights ahead... Paid all that money for the view and the next little creak or rattle.............
Take away mother nature's ability to do her business, suffer the results; it may have been a man-made failure, but had the house not been there but the native shrubs and trees...
