I feel like it would work way better with the strumtiger, I know because once I got a 1.2km triple kill just by calculating the distance between our spawn and the enemy spawn
THIS is why i want bigger maps and longer battle times in ground RB. and more objectves (preferable spread out or battlefield conquest style to make people use the whole map)
And this new mode is gonna be called tank driving simulator? I think big maps are fine in toptier but for the rest its just nothing but driving which make people only spawn 1 time in a tank and then straight into the air after they die.
@Agustin F1 I mean, think about this, i feel that there should be a form of enduring confrontation for tanks with the following features 1, a campaign system like in the game Rising Storm 2 vietnam was in multiple battles lead to victory (kinda what WW mode should be like) 2, an FOB/Logistics system where engineering/recovery vehicles have a purpose with AI convoys to supply giving both pvp and pve elements in a battle. This this would allow for artillery to set up and do proper objectives 3, a long-range campaign like map would allow for the introduction of scout planes for players with a large benefit for proper scouting. 4, this would both limit and improve the capability of helicopters in a battle. 5. With the infantry even going on, they could also add an ifv capability of like deploying AI infantry like a stinger team or light AT around tree lines or towns. This is very possible and viable since the mechanics needed to set up a battle like this already exists, and I have been creating a test mission for this concept.
Sturmtiger takes too long to reload, so would definitely need a 4 man squad but since no one in top tier respawns it would be an instant loss and spawn camp.
Phly, please hear my idea out: Try using the BMP-1 as arty, the autoloader makes it rather funny and for some reason the HE on the BMP-1 got one of the slowest muzzle velocities ingame, it can lob over obstacles very good
This is why on SPGs the entire scope view should have graduated range because, as you elevate the gun closer to 90°, the range should start getting closer again. It would allow you to choose to hit 1000m either at high or low angle of attack. I would love to be able to fire over 2km straight up to hit a target 700m away. The current maximum scope range of 6km doesn't cut it.
i tried this and followed the shell in a replay to see if it comes back down. the shell disappears before it even has enough time to slow down at its peak so it wouldnt work
@@toysoldi3r14 Not always true. The Sturmtiger can fire approximately 1.5km away at full elevation. The shell most definitely came back down. I was even able to destroy my friend with a repeat shot because all he had to do was park in the crater the first shell left 🤣
@@SpawnofChaossturmtiger is different because it's shooting a rocket not an HE shell Think of it like a bradley shooting it's TOW except you can't guide it at all Or katyusha MLRS's It's entirely different mechanic then shooting tank shells and stuff

When your arty miss give a correction plus 10 or minus 25 from the range you gave when you flew over the enemy. For side to side correction. Call it out in mils, minus 3 mils or plus 17 mils off the heading. Just remember the heading will be the opposite from what you see. Good luck from 5th Bn 11th Mar Renegade E-4Mike
Bro, this is how Artillery in War Thunder needs to be done. But for lower BRs, you use spotter aircraft like the Piper. And you need to range the targets manually.
Something I have learned trying this is that the minimap gives map grid distances, so on Normandy, each square was 300m. then when you use the spot, it is a little easier to get ranged in for the gunner as they have that point of reference
I thought of the same thing, i had an idea of a tool that took the range on the map and gave distances on the map relative to the distance on one grid square, it would be fast and accurate. Maybe someday someone will do something like it
you should definitely do this at a slightly lower BR. Basically use the lowest possible BR you can get drones with and this might be some gold content. I loved you guys trying to use artillery vehicles as actual artillery! This might even be super awesome in Ground Sim!
I feel like at the higher tiers they can get more lightly armoured targets, hence a lot more easier to kill with the arty. At the lower BRs, it'll mostly be hits and tracks being damaged honestly.
You can also use a ruler that measures the grid squares for this. Make a squad marker and then measure the grid distance and then multiply with the scale that you see on the map and now you got the distance to the marker. If you can zoom the minimap so that 1cm = 1 grid, you don't have to make a special ruler for it.

Hey phly, do this again but use the drone this way. Fly it above the enemies towards your arty then get a range from your arty. Have the arty shoot with that range and heading.
Do this with the bmp-3. It has a 100 mm very slow he round that works perfect as a form of makeshift artillery. It also has an auto loader meaning you can fire a new shot very couple seconds.
Doing this strategy but with real modern artillery vehicles like the rhino or something would be interesting since they should be more accurate and have more explosive mass.
yall should try this again with the sturmtiger if possible, the reload is longer but if 1 fires and then you relay the range with the correction to the 2nd. you could work around it.

This is exactly what I did once on Maginot Line with the Churchill VII, against half the enemy team in AAA. My friend flew high above them correcting my shots, got several kills and somehow the AAA never noticed him
Drone Tip I learned from Military Channel, Keep in mind when ranging with a drone, you need to know target’s altitude (on a hill or not) vs drones altitude, the difference between the 2 will be subtracted from drones Laser Designator Rangefinder for more accurate shells on target.
phlydaily, you should try this challenge (drone guided anti tank artillery) but with atgm artillery. your friends use a rakjpz and you use the drone, and you guide them on when to bring the missile down. day 1.

Thought of an idea, light tanks (or vehicles with scout ability) can rangefind for their artillery by using their current rangefinder, but rangefinding for the arty takes a lot longer. The result of this rangefinding is that the full barrage the arty fires comes a lot sooner without the ranging shots and is more accurate
If u guys are curious. Yes sturmtiger actually works really good. A buddy of mine made a rangefinder thingy so we could measure exact distance. He would sit in a drone. The only thing holding us back is the difference in height.

Gaijin needs to actually add a fire system for self propelled guns like Type75 and add more like M109 and M110 Just add a respawn for Arty vehicles near the airfield and that Is it!
oh my god phly needs to drone guide the derp tier 1 german sturmpanzers, i forgot the name but those tier 1 open top tank, those things HE rounds pack a punch and they have like ingame artillery rounds that can kill things from the top regardless of armor
