It actually got even stronger than this when it got up to Blair, NE, reducing several houses and buildings down to the concrete foundations. It had a MASSIVE debris signature on radar.

I literally watched this unfold from my basement window. I live only about 1.5 miles from this neighborhood. Absolutely wild, prayers to all the people effected. Sure hope no one was hurt or killed.
I live about a mile or two away from the this neighborhood. Everyone in my apartment was outside watching the giant storm cloud that appeared across the lake. I don’t think anyone there would’ve believed you if you told them this was happening.
Prayers out to those affected by the tornado in Elkhorn and Northwest Omaha. Especially in Neola And Minden. I live in West Omaha and I’m just lucky that it moved north a bit.

The 230 mph winds were brief and high above the ground, this was a multi vortex tornado with ground winds probably around 160. This damage doesn't add up with winds at 230.This is standard EF3 damage. Look at the damage from the Joplin, and both Moore tornadoes and you'll see what I mean. Those were constant 200+mph at ground level, the first Moore tornado was over 300.
@caydenruzicka It was initially rated EF-3 with 165 mph winds then got later upgraded 5 mph to a 4. "Try again" lmao. Also I still can't find where I said it wasn't a violent tornado, I just said it didn't cause EF5 damage. Because it didn't. Chill out.
@@ireneerrico4706most homes have basements or a storm shelter in Nebraska, inner most room with no windows is the best bet if nothing but based on this damage it’s good people were still at work and school
These are brand new houses !! Imagine going through all the hoopla of buying a new home only to have wiped off the map a short time later. Hope everyone is okay.
My gosh. The process of recovering from this must be awful. Work, school life goes on but you have no home or belongings. And that's the best case scenario.
Anyone else notice that kitchen island still standing?? I know we can't tell but i'm just praying that most of these houses had basements because you know we live in tornado alley. I know that no reports have come out yet on casualties. Prayers for everyone affected. 🙏 I am 45 mins away and willing to help if needed.
I live in Los Angeles and our local news station was talking about how it could have been one of the most powerful tornadoes in history. I have to say that this is EF3 or even EF2 damage. It's horrible regardless but it's definitely not EF5 damage

Is this the new subdivision ? Some of those people haven’t even moved into their houses yet but that’s a good example as to know if I need to build your house of bricks and have a basement.
All houses in the Midwest and tornado alley should have basements. Unfortunately, none of the new schools we've built in the last 5 decades have basements though.
@@plmn93That was brief and high above ground, not consistent and at ground level like the F5/EF5s on record. The proof is in the damage, every structure isn't completely leveled. So no way it was always 230, Joplin was around 200 and made this look like a minor storm.

We build in areas where these storms take place .T. A it's called .we need to build a different type of housing to take serve weather.🤔can we learn from this weather event.

High end ef3-low end ef4… there’s was two houses there that everything was blown down including interior walls.. just leaving a pile of rubble.. that’s textbook ef4 damage.. but it probably will end up as a overall ef3
