You can only turn the gimbal on by using the power button on the S1 body. The remote control cannot turn the gimbal on/off.

I love GoPro and the image quality. It is easy to use with the default settings. Mavic Pro camera is very nice as well, but it is more difficult to use. There are a lot of settings and I need more time to learn them. When leaving my Solo, I just need to focus on flying. When flying my Mavic, I need to focus on flying, camera exposure and focusing. GoPro is better for higher frame rates (i.e. 60FPS+). I don't like the quality of the Mavic at 60FPS, so I have been shooting at 30FPS. So, overall, GoPro is easier and looks amazing. Mavic is more advanced and I'm not an expert with it yet.

On my 3DR drone, I had my GoPro set to medium FOV. On my Mavic drone, I shot in 2.7 at 30FPS, there is no fish eye on the Mavic

I love my Solo. I've used it for about 2 years and haven't had an issue. I now have the DJI Mavic because I wanted a smaller drone. Solo is great, but it is too big for traveling. If you already have a GoPro and don't care about the size of the drone, I would get the Solo because it is very cheap right now.

I work for REMOVU so I have been testing the S1 for about 2 years now. Peoples comments on Facebook are negative because they want the S1, not because there is anything wrong with the S1. People don't understand how crowdfunding works. They invested in an idea, not a finished product. Some of them have been waiting for 2 years. REMOVU is producing the S1 as fast as possible, but they have 3000 orders to fulfill, which is difficult for a small company. Once the pre-orders are shipped, it will be business as normal and they will have lots of stock and will ship quickly.

Nope, you have to manually do it, which isn't difficult. Left stick up a little and right stick all the way down

I use Cyberlink Powerdirector. I used the speed setting to increased a portion of the clip so that it is sped up.
