the technical term for what ur describing is “Timbre” (Tam-Bur) if you’re interested in looking more into it. i also find it fascinating how you can have 100 guitarists play the same riff, same notes, same timing, and you can hear a slight difference in each one of them. it’s super cool when it gets to the point where you know exactly who it is playing just by using your ears another cool factor with timbre, i don’t watch this channel as lucratively as you probably do (since u said ur picking up on the little things he does i assume you’re a fan), i don’t have the ability to hear his timbre, so what i hear and what you hear are the same exact sound waves, but we aren’t hearing the same thing. your ear/brain whatever it is, is picking up on stuff that mine doesn’t even know to look for. badass stuff! only a guitarist would call that bit of knowledge badass😂 everyone thinks we’re drug frenzied sex icons, when in reality 9 out of 10 of us are just glorified ultra nerds, i probably spend more time studying theory and practicing than the engineering major that most folks consider the actual nerd lmao

My Drop D adventures mostly revolved around Billy Talent. I think 99% of there songs were written in Drop D and they have a ton of great riffs but Ian D'Sa also incorporates a variety of of different styles into his playing creating something truly unique and recognisable. My favourite riffs would be Fallen leaves, Devil in a midnight mass, Dead Can't testify, Viking Death March and Surprise Surprise.

Was a big Creed fan back in the early 2000's when I started trying to play, and the first full song I learned was My Own Prison. They had put the sheet music and tabs up on their website for One and My Own Prison and I remember how good it felt to learn a full song within a couple weeks of picking it up! I started off learning every Drop D Three Days Grace song I could. They've always been one of my most favourite bands even to this day. Animal I Have Become is the first song I learnt, I remember the first time finally playing the riff in full and realising how amazing Drop D was that something this, theory wise, simple could sound so cool. And then I realised the song was in Drop C not D lmao. Drop C is pretty great tho, and nowadays I'm in Drop A but I will always believe Drop D to be the best guitar tuning.

Nobody wants to say it, but I’ll say it. Creed. Higher, What If, My Own Prison, Torn, One, and With Arms Wide Open, pretty much everything from the first two albums is in drop D. Tremonti has evolved quite a bit since then, but he has always had a knack for writing catchy riffs.

I live across the street from a park and it's great that there are electrical outlets. Every once in a while I take my amp and guitar outside so I can turn it up and really enjoy my amp cranked. But usually there are also other people playing music (from their cars, blasted) so I rarely get to really enjoy it by myself. There are always mini concerts going on when it's warm enough.

I can't remember who's house I was at but back in high school I remember wanting to learn Everlong from Foo Fighters and at that time I was trying to learn by ear and then I said screw it, Ultimate Guitar Tabs I went. I looked at the tabs and I was playing every chord right but none of it sounded right for some reason... lol lo and behold the tuning was DADGBE and I thought what the hell is that? you can do that? I finally figured out what the D was from the low E and it changed my life. Still to this day now at 33, those chord shapes have been the foundation for my writing basics and jumping off points when I write my songs. Thank you Grohl for my gateway riff to writing epic metal core, djent, prog and every other genre I feel like playing on any given day.
