In this video, we review some MT3 profile keycaps from Drop. This was supposed to be a quick review but there were a lot of things I wanted to cover so it extended a bit. The review proper only takes around five minutes.

@@TheDredgenProject have you tried making a custom cable? I've seen a RU-vid video on how to make one and it caught my interest. Making a coiled cable is unexpectedly simple. I hope I'll see you make one day.

@@Kenken-jd1xz I haven't looked at it yet since I have purchased quite a lot already haha I think it requires soldering so it's still a no for me for now since I still don't want to solder. Hopefully sometime in the future but not anytime soon. ( I am a bit stubborn on not learning to solder sorry :p)

Nice review! I have been waiting two months for my Drop GMK WoB to arrive and I have just ordered a set of Drop WoB MT3 for my Tofu as well from Amazon. I have Tealios V2’s and also have some Boba U4T’s on the way. I love the look of the MT3’s as they remind me of the super old school IBM terminal keyboards pre-PC era of the 1970’s and also the Commodore 64 from my youth. I think these MT3’s in black with look great on a black Tofu. Do those Drop MT3’s sound more thocky /deeper than the GMK WoB Cherry keycaps? Many thanks.

Taller keycaps tend to sound deeper though it will stil depend a lot on your case and switches. Do check your WoB for issues. My BoW had stem issues where the W key had a stem crack. I was able to get a full replacement so still good :)

I just added these keycaps and Glorious Pandas to my GMMK, and the sound is pretty nice.

One quick question. Do you think the holy pandas will sound better on a high profile crtl/alt keyboard then their low profile form?

Hmmm I think so but I haven't tested it yet. My high profile is coming in three weeks so hopefully I can test it then.

If it's direct drop, it can take one to two months and it would end up in the post office. You can also use forwarders like buyandship or jinio :)

Wow the ABS ones actually sound better I think? Planning to buy one of these sets for Glorious Pandas, are the ABS high quality and similar weight? Have they started to shine? Thanks!

I used it for a couple of days and a buddy of time bought the susuwatari off of me. Both actually sound the same in my ears. I couldn't distinguish them. PBT is good but I think the ABS one have sharper prints. I ordered the mt3 cyberpunk because I really liled the quality of the keycaps :)

@@AlexMcDermott They will wear out in a couple of months. They will get shiny though I honestly have not used anything that long yet to see how it looks. It is a disadvantage. I also try to use my ABS keycaps sparingly due to this issue. It sounds like you may be better off with PBT :)

I would still say Alt. (I have a High Profile waiting for review). I don't like the 75% layout since I don't use the Function row and I don't think KBD75 is hotswap. I'm very big on hotswap since I try out a lot of things.

@@dowblab there are colored cases for the high profile :) Check it out on drop. I don't think they have the same colors as the low profile but there are still choices. I think you can still buy the PCB as well.

@@TheDredgenProject wow I didn't notice that. Too bad they don't have the burgundy, I really like that color. I just got a glorious gmk with some g panda switches. I also pre-ordered the gmmk pro so I might just hold off until that arrives next year. It sounds promising

Yup GMMK pro looks really solid. Yeah sadly the colors available for the High Profile are a little bit too light for my liking as well :)

A lot will depend on your budget. The popular ones right now are the ones from HKGaming which are PBT dye sub at 40 USD with a lot of color options. There are some Cherry keycaps that are being sold now at Novelkeys which are PBT (I bought one vaporwave and one white on black) for 50 USD. Drop also has GMK white on black for 100 USD ready to ship. Last would be the zFrontier custom ABS keycaps which are not as great but are at 40USD. @@nicholasm8946 Hmmm I haven't tried out some of the more exclusive keycaps tbh. I'm still waiting for my GMK and EPBT keycap sets. I would probably stick to ABS as long as it's not smooth. I like how ABS sounds but like the chalky feel of PBT. I'm falling in love with tall keycap profiles. I find that cherry is a bit boring (unpopular opinion) so I'll probably buy some SA keycaps from Signature Plastics. Though don't hold me to that since preferences change.

@@TheDredgenProject I really like PBT but can't find anything that is non-backlit of high quality. I havent tried ABS, a little bit hesitant because of the price and that it can shine. I might try getting the SA domikey/maxkey keycaps though. I haven't tried cherry either, but I assume its close to OEM. Do you have any high quality pbt keycaps that you could recommend?

@@nicholasm8946 I would say that the PT keycaps from EnjoyPBT would e your best bet. Also I think cherry will feel different from OEM and I prefer Cherry. Here is a link to a PBT set from them. Oh I think it is overpriced by choice though that is an assumption on my side since I do not know the profit margins on these. The fact that HK Gaming and other companies can manufacture keycaps of good quality at decent prices is proof that it can be manufactured at a lower price point.

Kind of a pointless sound test using two completely different setups. There's no way to tell what the change in sound profile is relative to the different materials. Why not just switch the caps rather than using a completely different setup?
