As a new knitter that looks so intimidating

tip from a crocheter: when crocheting with yarn held double (essentially the same as picking up multiple floats) you want to go up a couple hook sizes. as a test you can see how the yarn fits in the indent in the hook. it should fit snugly. when the indent is smaller than the yarn(s) it's really hard to do a stitch. so . if you're working with a 5mm needle, probably get at least a 7 or 8 mm hook if you can
