When asked, I often explain to people that skating vert requires a balance of building/managing comfort and trust with the ramp, by essentially doing as little as possible to disrupt the natural flow the ramp provides. Another masterful explanation by Mitchie!
Feel like an old man but 21 year old ex-skater, I quit because I got stuck. Between all the years of skateboarding RU-vid I’ve watched in the past 10 years trying to learn how to skate at 13-14 years old, I’ve never seen someone teach as well as you, thanks for getting me back into skating!
Man, you don’t need RU-vid videos to skate! Just get out there and push yourself to try things beyond what you can do now. You’ll progress, I promise. I’m 47 now and like my friends, we just hacked away at it until we improved.
Crucial lessons each and every one of them. The people making use of these tips will find them invaluable. Knowing the how-to's of the basics lays the foundations for the more advanced stuff.
It’s true, it’s so much easier to start playing with hard tricks after you have the fundamentals down. There’s just no better way to go about it in my opinion
There is a tendency amongst beginners to want to skip the basics and go straight into something difficult. So many people get injured, then put off because of this.@@SKATEiQ
you really explain every detail so well. i love the way you work and interact with all the little kids. you give them confidence while sharing your knowledge
Truly believe he has one of if not the best technical understanding of skating, for every kind of terrain. I mean to land a 1260 at 16, this dude is a legend. Fuck yeah mitchie!!
Thanks man!!! I'm 53, and i loose my trust when i drop on vert, seans 2 years now, it happen sudunly, i dont know why? I weel try that way. Your a very pedagog and good teacher. From the south of france🤘😎👍
Ah! I got the Patreon link from your other video and just subbed. Holy Toledo, you've got that already STACKED with content. Everything from Hippy jumps to 540s. I love skateboarding even more today than yesterday!
@@friscotecsk8s119 I would be weary of changing your angle as you go into the ramp, try and set how steep you want your body before the drop in and don’t go more forward than that as you go
I love this. If I was to try and explain this to a beginner, I wouldn't know where to start. The way you've broken it down is so understandable and relatable ❤
@@TRAVIESO_NA you want me to give you tips on skating vert without pads? I’m just not gonna do that. My tip is go buy some knee pads and learn how to use them
I really wish I still had access to a vert ramp.. I am/was so scared for the longest time and I feel like this video makes it all seem so much simpler.
I can’t tell you how many first timers i’ve seen not commit and put their balance on the back foot and eat it hard when their board goes shooting out from under their feet like a rocket. Stomping down that front foot is imperative. I always struggled on going back up the ramp after dropping in because you’re moving WAY faster up than you did dropping in, and the trucks get wobbly and the balance is different at the top when your momentum is gone than it is when you’re cruising straight.
Ah, yes. That’s a very common feeling! But i might say if you can get your balance right as youre coming to a stop and changing directions that becomes the calmest moment of the whole run. I think most of everything should be built around balancing through the weightlessness instead of holding on tight through the transition. That’s kind of an “open to interpretation” tip but its definitely how i view it
@@SKATEiQ solid tip. I’m always too top or too bottom heavy when i lose it up high. I told my kid gravity always wins, and now he says it all the of the time. 😄
