My favorite part about this trick is that it can stay bucket list until you're at least 50. You can literally learn this trick at 45 if you want. Maybe even later

Incredible big picture coaching demonstrated by explaining the rewiring that would be necessary based off the other habit often learned first. A coach as good as Mitchie shows that it's okay if you learn something another way, just realize that there are plateaus and obstacles that'll come up based on habits. Flawless as always!

Hey Mitchie! I’ve been trying backside airs and I can get it really close with the early grab but my nose comes up on the landing or I’m too squatted in it. When should I let go of my board to help prevent this?

What exactly do you mean when you say "Releasing yourself from the ramp". Do you actually need to "jump off" / jump up from the board, or is it more/mostly/only about lifting/pulling up the knees/feet?
@SKATEiQ
@SKATEiQ 6 месяцев назад
It’s mostly getting the process of your pump right so you can be weightless in vert so it’s easy to pick your feet up

@@SKATEiQ now all I have to do is actually put it into practice. Tried the kick turn nose grab thing on and off for a couple of years and it just never felt right to actually take off and keep the board under me and then resorted back to early rail grab hops which are a road to nowhere and as you say a total speed killer. Really want to get these happening as your videos make so much sense I just got to try and put it into practice. 🙏🏻👊🏼

@@SKATEiQ it’s baffling but obviously worked out for some people , I’m not much of an Ollie guy getting old and the legs don’t work like they used to so I guess the idea of just floating a kick turn was a nice idea. Will give it a go with a minimal pop and see what happens, I probably weigh more than I should too so if feels like trying make an elephant fly 🤣 but I’ll try and work with the flow and see what happens.

I dont have any vert half pipes around me, just some bowls with a few inches of vert. How different are the two? I can pop ollies out of regular wuarter pipes a few feet high but with vert in stuck just doing early grabs. I want to learn true air outs
@SKATEiQ
@SKATEiQ 6 месяцев назад
I would have trouble knowing whats going on without seeing. vert is a lot softer and everything takes longer to do so it could be a number of issues, most likely the timing of your pump is a little off and lacking a bit of patience through the lip on vert. seems to be a very common combo
@enerian4525
@enerian4525 6 месяцев назад
I have the same Problem just a bowl with like 4 inches of vert. You think its still possible to learn those airs? Or is having a vert ramp key?
@thisgoestoeleven
@thisgoestoeleven 6 месяцев назад
Is this technique applicable on a smaller ramp? There's a 7-8'er at my local that goes just barely up to vert but doesn't extend into a proper vert wall, but it looks like it'd be a good spot to learn proper flat wall airs.
@HisBeverness
@HisBeverness 6 месяцев назад
Would love to know the answer to this too.
@SKATEiQ
@SKATEiQ 6 месяцев назад
Yes! But you have to pop wayyyyy harder to stay in the ramp. Go just to coping height and start working on it there. It’s easy to go too high …

I am more into street skating, and currently, I am into skating mini ramps or quarters. I am very comfortable with kickflips to fakies highly above the coping, but backside 'Airs' still feel very strange. So, my question is, can I apply those tips also on non-vert ramps?
@SKATEiQ
@SKATEiQ 6 месяцев назад
I am not sure how to answer this over the computer without knowing how you skate. Mainly just using the same principles but instead of a backside air it would be like a back disaster
@satanshog

It appears to require being able to Ollie?
@wizard42069
@wizard42069 5 месяцев назад
Just started practicing this way and this just made things click. However, I did notice that when trying to transition from a late nose-grab grip to a melon like you do in this demo that its deceptively more difficult than just a bs ollie. not asking for a video, just wondering if you also have some insight as to how I should go about learning melons and other grabs.
@SKATEiQ
@SKATEiQ 5 месяцев назад
Just remember that the hard part is maintaining balancing as you pick your board up more and more. Focus on how youre falling out of balance and try to make little adjustments as you get your board higher and higher
