It's time! Stacey and Mel put the finishing touches on the Xtreme S10-turned-muscle truck. It gets stripes before they take it out to melt the rubber off the tires.
I wish Lakewood still had these traction bars... Or I wish I knew the measurements on these to order some universal ones. I have a stock '02 4.3L Xtreme sitting outside my front door with the 4.3L. Dead ringer for this build sans the poor color choice stripes. Even with the 4.3L, you can light the tires up and hop like a damned retarded bunny.
I watched this in high school and I graduated in '03, in one of the episodes from this series they were talking about the "new" '99 Tahoe finally getting the Z71 package, and they also said the S10 was new as well and they discontinued that in '04. So my best guess is this aired sometime in '98-99, but definitely no later than '03. I think at that point the LS was still very new, and I believe still only in the Corvette. At the very least it didn't have the reputation it has now for cheap easy power.
My friend at my first duty station had an extended cab white Xtreme... With the 4-banger. 0-60 in a hope and a prayer, but believe me, it existed. I used to blow his doors off with a 5-speed 4-banger YJ on a Skyjacker 3" lift with 31x10.50s on it. They SHOULDN'T have offered the Xtreme with a 4, but they did. As I type, I have a stock '02 Xtreme right outside my front door with the 4.3L that looks exactly like this one without the horrid yellow stripes.
