I hope you guys are thriving and have the necessary patents. This has so much versatility for van life, solar, more weight on certain vehicles, Branding and collaborations as well as licensing.
I was sketching ideas to built something like this (which would have ended up much less polished) and paused to Google it and found you've done it already! Great work!
Awesome! I can't believe that this product has never come across my radar until now, I've been searching for exactly this for canoe transportation for years and never found anything remotely suitable, the only similar options are for kayaks by Thule and Yakima, but neither looks as well built or sturdy, and neither accepts canoes where you can portage your canoe to the side of your truck and let it down on top of it. I just sent an email off to your company, but is shipping to Canada a possibility?

Looks like a possible solution that would suite me. I need to carry 2 x 5.8m kayaks on my Van which is 2.1m high. Can you make a video showing something like this?
Thats Vans and kayaks are a great match for Dropracks! Check out more pictures with both vans and kayaks at www.dropracks.com I guess we should make a video with both!
I would like to install J racks for my kayak so that I can be racked on its side and at the same time attach my Thule car top carrier that is approximately 34" wide. Is that doable
i see this as a extra feature to be able to put solar panels on an angle and increase the amount of solar intake during the winter when the sun is lower in the horizon i wonder if it would also be able to go on a cargo van as we call them here in north america
It's about time. I have a Rail Rack on the back of my Jeep., at a level that makes it easy to use.......I did not even consider the old-fashioned on-top of the roof stationary system ... too cumbersome and prone for injury or dropping the bike while attempting to load/unload. Did not see the total video, but guess it would not fit my standard Jeep Rails with Thule Cross bars.
Hello, yes absolutely. Dropracks works great with both Discovery 4 and Discovery 5. The load limits are 75 / 80 kg so no problem to carry your kayaks. Prices for Australia aren't official yet, but we assume they will be quite similar to Europe: 1560 EUR + vat for Dropracks Sport and 1800 Eur + vat for Dropracks XL. Both Dropracks versions should fit Discovery.
You need a fair amount of room beside your vehicle to use this system... ie.. an extra parking space?... Also, this may work fine with a low car to initially pull the rack towards you before dropping it down but with the higher SUV's and some vans, it would be harder to pull the rack over before you crank it down, especially if you're short. Pulling or pushing is more ergonomic when you can push something at shoulder height. I have rotator cuff problems and I don't think that this roof rack system would work for me.
Correct you need some extra space to lower it completely. Note that it is also self locking, and you may stop the lowering at any position. Dropracks has several rollers, to ensure that it rolls, with lowest possible friction in / out. If youre the DIY type you can allways fix a vertical bar to the system, and push/pull 100 % horizontal to make it even simpler.
Kari Tek is ok to carry a kayak. Once you start adding more kayaks, the Kari Tek gets more risky and heavy to operate. Dropracks works for all kinds of gear, like bikes, boxes ++ . Just ask the Kari Tek Importer in Norway wich rack is his favourite ;)
@@dropracks We and many people from our club regularly carry 3 Kayaks on the Kari-Tek with no problems. It is much quicker, lighter and cheaper than this system. It is also much easier to put the kayaks onto a frame that is vertical and you can take any one kayak off and leave the rest. You don’t need to leave so much space next to the vehicle either.
@@liebie999 Sure, We trust you. But we still have several customers who used to have the Kari Tek, but changed to Dropracks. You can put 3 kayaks on Dropracks as well. You simply lift the kayak tip onto it and push it in directly from the trolley.
