Yeah mine is also exactly 4”. In the video you see me put some washers in the spaces on each side. That’s all you will need to do. I haven’t messed with it since that day I did the video. It’s worked perfectly. Don’t worry about that part, just know that you will need a few washers. It’s a great product. It’s something I’ll always have on my trailer from now on. Oh and yeah, I did get the 3 3/4 model.

@@freaknfishn my marks are black I think its the black metal part between the white plastic parts I think the boat hits the metal part of the Drotto first IM thinkiing I may put the roller back Im not going to mess up a $$$$$ boat someone pointed it out to me when the ranger was beached not happy

I love the thing. It’s so much easier to load and off load. I do think I need to put a bow guard on my boat. It has scratched it up a bit.

It’s actually the right one it just needs spacers. It is made for several different trailers with slightly different dimensions. I just wanted people to know that it doesn’t just pop on there out of the box. It’s worked great since I put it on though. It definitely makes things easier.

No regrets here. I’d definitely buy it again. It as worked flawlessly so far.

Because I had a flat nut with me lol. I took the latch with me to the lake so I could put it on with the boat off the trailer. That was why I mentioned that. If you do have a Triton trailer and plan on putting it on at the lake, there are a few extra parts you will need. The flat nut works fine but it’s just something I lucked into having with me.

Mine came right off. Are yours corroded?

That’s strange. I just used two wrenches. One to hold and one to back the nut off. If they’re stuck you might try to use a short cheater pipe over one of the wrenches to make it a little longer and give you some leverage. I can’t imagine why they’d be that hard to get off though

Yeah it’s the right one. They can’t possibly make one for each trailer. I understand that. The only reason I mention the washers is because if you are thinking you will do as I did and put it on at the lake, and you have my trailer, you will need washers, otherwise the latch will just hang there. It’s been a while since I did it but if I recall, the trailer has 4 inches ID and the unit is 3-3/4 OD. I think that was it.

It only comes in two sizes. This one is the large. My bracket measures 4 inches ID. Drotto’s large latch measures 3.5 inches. You have to add spacer to anything bigger than 3.75 inches. All the info is on their website www.boat2trailerhookup.com/drotto-automatic-boat-latch/drotto-boat-latch-sizes/

@@freaknfishn there's actually 3 types. They have the 3", a 3 /3/4" and a 3" made specifically for Ranger and Stratos boats. Maybe that's why you're seeing the marking.

My boat is a Triton but I wonder if that might be a problem with some of the others having trouble with that. It sure is nice to use at the ramp but over time the rubbing is causing a problem. On mine it’s happening when loading the boat. Trailering and unloading is all good.

@@freaknfishn I know that so either you ordered the wrong size Drotto Width or your bracket was previously bent. I'm sitting infront of my Triton trailer right now with the 4" drotto and wouldn't be able to even fit 1 washer let alone multiple on both sides. You must have ordered the size below the 4" or the previous boat owner bent the roller brackets open a bit when replacing the roller

I’m not sure why you want to argue with me about this but my bracket has never been bent, it’s a Triton trailer, it measures 4” ID, and it has to have spacers to fit snug. It literally says it on the Boat2trailer website. So unless they started making a newer model, that’s the deal.

@@freaknfishn well I have a Triton trailer too and I ordered the 4" version which fits snug without a single washer. That's why I'm saying something is wrong. How can we both have Triton 4" opening trailers and mine fits perfect and yours needs Spacers?? Probably cause you fish Bass and I fish Walleye...lmao.

Lol. I won’t hold species against you. Idk what the difference is without seeing it. Mine is 4 inches inside diameter. Is it possible that yours is 4 inches outside diameter? That would make the difference.
