How using a dirty water pump to recover rainwater to fill a pool. And for further excitement a demonstration of a commercial battery powered water butt pump.
Here is the link to the battery powered pump - but I have not used it enough to recommend it.

David your work and attitude is inspiring! I've been bumbling and tinkering my way through life as well! Would love to see a quick video on your skimmer in the greenhouse pond. You showed it quickly and I am curious how it went together. Also I would love to know about the construction of your greenhouse. Keep up the great work. ~Chris Brodeur Maine USA

Considering the pool is at a lower elevation you might consider a Pythagorean syphon for the rain barrel.

Such a simple solution. Muck waterpump with a float switch in a rainbarrel. I'm going to copy that on our farm. I really want to catch more rainwater and bring it up our hills for a gravity fed water system.

I'm so glad it was useful.

David, My wife and I just found your channel and subscribed after watching many vids. You provide great information and i especially like where you go into all the reasonable but relative finite details. I am planning a pool pond build next year and would like to see you do a vid on pond placement as it relates to its exposure to sun. ie- explain why we cant have too much shade or why its ok etc. I have one area which gets several hours a day of constant sun but this area is not the best locatioin for our preference. I have a second area which is somewhat situated like a pond/pool named "FRANK" and this are woud get intermittant sunlight due to its proimity to a tree line. I studied / paused one of your FRANK vids to see if their sunlight situation was like ours. In our second area we would get mid morning sun, then some mid afternoon. From my bet guess on the Frank vids, it appeared they get lots of shade in the mid afternoon onward until the next day. I was basing this on shadow lenghts and such as all the images were combined in that one vid. We would prefer to have our pond/pool in our more shady area since it could be situated directly off our side deck. If you already have answered this question, i am sure i will evenually come across it. If you have not addressed it, i am interested in the pro's and cons of highly shaded areas. Many plants dont like shade while otheres do. Ive learned so much from you so far and we thank you a lot. My wifed mentioned instead of plants,, why not use plants that provide food such as cranberry, rice maybe? can this regeneration area be tasked with the job of hydroponics? I also saw you and your daughters quick vid where you mention **NO FISH** in the pond. I was disappointed to hear this because we wanted to make use of this pool to stage and grow fish for food and / or add fish to enjoy them. Thank you and i hope you find time to read this and get back to us or do a vid on the topic. V/R J Scott Cassity, Gap Mills West Virginia

I would also very much like to know about sun/shade considerations. I’m in the PNW area.
@organicpools-davidpaganbutler
An organic pool can function in shady places and in full sun. Just like ponds found in nature. The ecology can adapt to the circumstances. Still - No fish in an organic pool. See my film "putting a killer fish in a pool"

DPB is a contemporary Merlin, absent-mindedly bumbling about his green laboratory and managing to be brilliant.

Hey David I see you have some geese or duck there. I would love to have them in my pool but don't they add too much organic dirt ? Isnt it dangerous to swim there after? Thanks

This has been a major concern with building my pool. We're in a mega drought. Do your bubble pumps have an automatic shutoff if the water gets too low? Or do you just make sure the aeration stone is down toward the bottom?
@organicpools-davidpaganbutler
The bubble pumps will not cause a problem if left on. But if the water level is too low for them to work, then you may as well turn them off and wait for rain. I also have the pumps on a timer so the just come on during the day.

What happend to the toad? ;-) Ah and could you post a link to the battery-powered pump you used? Thanks!
@organicpools-davidpaganbutler
The toad now lives happily in the pond margins. I've now put the pump link in the description - thanks for the prompt.
