I remember going from the station in a yellow BR Bedford CF Minibus up to Kingmoor Depot in 1976 for a look round on a BR Permit. Busy Depot with Repair and servicing going on with 08’s, 24’s, 25’s 40’s and 47’s. And the Red Cowans Sheldon Breakdown Crane parked next to the Depot access road. Thanks DRS for taking this Depot on. KD.
Yes it is great that DRS have taken over Carlisle Kingmoor depot and for a long time DRS had a lot of heritage traction (Class 20s, 47s, 37s and even 33s for a bit) thank you for the comment!
All the Ex-DRS 37s sold recently have been purchased and seem to be going to continue mainline duties for different operators, thank you for the comment!
A great selection of diesels, plenty of the Class 66 "Sheds" Could they be the more modern Clsss 37 ? Good to see a Kingmoor TMD nameplate, fame at last. Hope you had a great day out.🙂👍
From my tatty ABC Loco shed book from 1961, I see Carlisle was served by THREE sheds. 12A KINGMOOR, 12B UPPERBY (Penrith) and 12C CANAL. After watching you video I’ll add 12A to my ‘visited’ list 🤭
12A Kingmoor was demolished in 1969/70. The shed you visited wasn’t constructed until 1965. 12B Upperby Carlisle has a Network Rail Maintenance facility there now and all traces of the old Depot have gone (2004) apart from the Carriage Shed Gable which stands isolated on what is now LSL.
@@jerrydowse5061 Sorry about the Quick panning, I try not to normally but it’s difficult when it’s busy sometimes, but I’ll try my best in future, thank you for the comment! 👍
Been many, many years since I went to an open day. Nice to see them in almost "BR Blue" style colours. Didn't look like anything was moving. It would have been a nice touch for one of the locos to do some short hops with one of those carriages, give people something to really remember. Nice little video. Was it all on your phone or a camera ?
@@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 sorry about the camera panning being a bit fast, I understand but it’s really difficult at a busy event when people are walking past
