I have shoulder length, thin hair that holds curl well. This curling apparatus has been an amazing addition to my life. Got it over 4 years ago. Takes me ten minutes, and I'm good to go! I use it so often, people think I have wavy hair.

I always enjoy your videos, but this time I think you haven't given this curling iron a fair chance. The first side of your head you were using it incorrectly. You have to keep the curling iron as close to your head as where you want your curl to begin, not on the end of your hair. The A stands for Alternate, so that you get an random curl alternating between left en right. What I personally like about this curling iron is that you get an even curl throughout your hair and it lasts much longer than with a regular curling iron. And the back of your head is way easier to curl with this machine:-). I agree on you with the cons about the weight and the heat setting though, but I don't think this curling iron is as bad as you make it look here;-).

I wish you'd looked up how to use it properly before doing this 😩 You're holding it so far down your hair so the curls are only at the ends and you aren't supposed to keep switching between direction settings - if you want alternate curls use the alternate setting

I have had one of these sense they have came out, only now seeing this video. I have mid-back length hair and I LOVE this. It also stays in for so long (with AND without hairspray). It lasted for two days until I eventually brushed it out and even with that it was still wavy and gave a very pretty effect. And, to me at least, it seems to make your hair really smooth and it adds a natural shine to it.

The "A" is for alternating, meaning it'll change directions every other turn -- right, left, right, left...

Just bought one today as it was recommended by a friend. She said her curls last for 3 days. I love it, it really makes my hair in cute ringlets. My hair came out much better than Milabu's.. I think it is very easy to use.

I am totally surprised that you didnt like it. I was very skeptic when I first heard about this "thing". I got it in a sale so it wouldnt be the hugest waste of my money - but it turns out it wasnt. I LOVE it. My hair - although it is fine - holds the curl for 2 days (w/o products). Usually, I put in a lot of effort and the curls hold for about 3 minutes (even if I use products). Oh and btw the "A" stands for alternating (direction). Thank you for your thoughts and trying it out, though and I do share your critisim about the flimsy buttons for heat setting/timer.

And that regular curling iron that brand has a really long cord which is AWESOME! I'm so glad you chose this iron to test out because I have been tempted to buy it several times💓💓💓 love you love your vlogs. I have had hair down to my butt for years! And because I was having a lot of headaches a very good friend of mine from work took me to have it cut ✂ lol she knew I wouldn't just go do it! Long story short, she wanted to take me for a hair makeover.I have not had product in it for even longer had very little damage cept pony tail damage. So my hair wants to do nothing lol

you should review the ones that have steaming built-in. the curls last for days on hair that is typically hard to keep in shape. They're actually amazing for people that have a hard time with curling irons, like me.

I've been using the Vidal Sassoon version of this curler for about 4 years now and it works great for me. Just make sure to choose small sections of hair at a time. With a bit of practice, it works great and even though there's only one curl setting ( mine is older so only one size) you can loosen the curl as much or as little as you want for different looks 🙂

It is a perfect tool if you buy the pro version cause the normal version is actually bad. My Mum uses it for 3 years now ( the steam professional version) and she says she has no damage at all and her hair is really shiny . Curls last 3 days if you want to and the pro version (the one they use in salons) never never never catches hair (not like normal version that catches and tangles hair). It has 3 temperature settings(190,210 and 230 degrees celsius) and you can achieve different looks. It is the perfect tool. My mom’s is the babyliss pro miracurl steamtech. It is amazing. Everyone should try it and will love it.

Milana! I am so excited to see you test this product! I bought one last month and it was 89.00 plus tax and I paid 15.00 for insurance. When I got home, I was so excited. My hair is just about an inch longer than yours. It made scraggly curls just like you got. Then I thought hmmm a little more hair... OMG GUUUUUUURRRRRRL. IT LOCKED ON MY HAIR/HEAD and smoke was rolling out and singe smell was heavy. I panicked as calmly as possible, and had to tug and pull the hair out of the locked machine!!!😱😱😱😱. I have taken two almost three years out of my life to grow my hair for the first time. Thankfully there was no damage other than fuzzy hair and burned hair smell. All was fine! But that machine went back the next day...they refunded full price, taxes and insurance cost! I’m glad you did not get damage, but glad I was not the only one it kinda freaked out. Unplugging a hot iron won't magically cool it off right away - and unplugging also won't detangle the mess the machine has made. ;) I had a similar curling iron and my hair got caught in there a couple of times too. Super unpleasant

I have the original babyliss one, where you can't change the barrel. It's years old, I got it when they very first came out. And I absolutely love it!! So easy! Also, the auto setting changea from left to right every time you press it down. If you wanted to have one half left and one half right to meet at the back of your head that's what the left and right setting is for

I just found your channel and just love watching you ! Did you ever review any calista hair stylers ? She has a few different kinds on qvc . Looking for new flat iron that will give loose curls too . You may have answered this in another video but do you review hair products high end and drugstore for certain hair types ? We have a client at work with nice beachy waves and we asked her how she did it and she uses this tool. She swears by it! She has long hair though and it takes her 20 min. I guess if you don't mind the heavyness and not seeing your hair it's perfect. If I try curling my hair with a regular curling iron, it's all different and the ends are awkward because of the snappy thingy, so I think this tool would be good for me.

I Have One and I Love it, although my hair is longer than yours, it saves time and effort, and I don't get my hands burnt like using a flat iron to curl my hair, I can never get the flat iron curl to work, where this product does the job for you, But you do have to be careful not to put too much hair in the device as it will tangle your hair, Lesson Learnt Lol, My hair is thick and once I've done my whole head, I flip my head and bounce all the curls out for a lovely flowing look....Much Love from Nellie from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺😍😍

It works well if you're in a hurry and like those type of curls. I have one of the curlers that I keep in a drawer just for specific occasions but I don't use it on a daily basis. If you can catch one on sale, I think it's a convenient tool to have on hand. Btw, the "automatic" setting alternates the curls left and right for you so you don't have to flip the switch. 😊✌👍

txs a lot...I thought about heaviness, that is a good point not to get it since take a while to go around your head ...also the chamber that heat the hair could be so hot that after a while your hair could be ruined, and you have not much control on that ...anyhow thanks again is a great review

I have one and you have to hold that towards your head but like so it's up and down not sideways the way you have it. And it works out really good. I got mine from Sally's.

I have the curl secret curler and love it. However I loved it more when my hair was longer. I now have my hair the same length as yours and I don't use it at all because it just doesn't work the same on short hair.

I love my curl secret! I have tonnes of hair so it takes me ages to curl with a wand and my arms get super tired. Also I'm always getting lost with which direction my curls are going, so the auto takes care of that. It did take a bit of practice to get used to, though!

I believe the 'A' setting is for alternate and not automatic...the curl rotation/direction will change after each use so you don't have to manually change the left/right button.

Thanks for posting (and I wish I had your hair and talent)! I can tell you that I have one and use it on my 5 and 8 year old girls for a "quick" curling style. I'm not good at styling my hair, let alone my kids, and this does the trick for them...but I wouldn't use these curls on myself. I most definitely would aim for a beachy look with my flatiron first. This thing takes FOREVER on my oldest who has super thick hair, so it's not very practical.

Looks easy enough, but the moment you take every curl out, you stretch it down first thing. My hair would STAY straight if I did that! My hair is SUPER hard to hold a curl.

I just tried this for the first time. Not a fan. I not only have medium curly, lower back length hair but....I am a hairstylist. It's cumbersome, awkward and I actually got my hair caught a couple times.

I have the instyler tulip. also automatic curler but all open so i can see what's happening with my hair, and not expensive at all. I love that thing! Curling irons freak me out cause of the heat and specially on the back of my head when i can't see what's happening. My brain is weird :D

It's on how you hold it try to hold it straight up and down instead of the way you were. The one from Sally's also has a gauge for the temperature.

Curl machines tend to work better on longer hair shoulder-blade and mid back. The greater the time setting the tighter, shinier, longer lasting (pageant-type) curls you will get. Use 8 seconds, do your whole head, and gently loosen the curls for a more natural wave look.
