The amount of time, energy and thoughtfulness you put into your videos is unparalleled in the changing landscape of RU-vid. TikTok's add format actually breeds add symptoms in their viewers without add/adhd. Imagine what it's doing to people like me who actually have adhd! So, yeah, no tiktok for me. I don't even let my new phones download it as part of the pre-installed apps. Long format videos actually help my adhd (no word on what they're doing to my ocd though 🤣 but yes, agreed- hate tiktok, keep making the youtube content. May you grow and prosper 🙏

The positivity I find here is something I have never found elsewhere. Thank you for being so honest and staying true to not accepting sponsorships, Em! So that's the difference! I hadn't even noticed that there have been no sponsors. I never see ads on any videos since getting google+ (youtube family, now) years ago because the kids wanted spotify and im like we can get google music and yt videos for the whole family! for the same price! And they thought it was so lame that they had google+ while their friends had spotify. Mom's so uncool they say to their friends. But they're grateful for zero youtube ads, I tell you what. Sorry, I'm rambling. Too much DoubleD's iced coffee after 3 pm. I can't sleep when I've had caffeine after 3, and then i get delirious, and being delirious apparently makes me ramble on youtube comments. But now it makes sense why i find Emily's videos so watchable! I hate people hawking products on educational videos because they kinda turn into infomercials. no matter how lowkey the content creator is trying to keep things, the ohhh, someone is tryna sell me sum'in vibe comes through. And I've never experienced that on this channel. Not to mention, things progress pretty organically- there's no repeats of "patented" teaching techniques, no crazy over the top energy that at the same time makes me awestruck and want to hurl, no snobbery, classist vibes, just nice, natural "here's some stuff i want to show you and my thoughts on what's good and what's not so good." Sports, soaps, cats, kids, husband, awesome stories about a cool career, a laidback sometimes emotional, sometimes scary (I'm thinking about the cats getting as high as possible and walking on Christmas garland story- mine do that. They need to make sure no being is higher, in order to maintain their cat superiority and attack at will, totally fearsome killers they are. We have two - one incredibly athletic and smart but completely neurotic and the well-adjusted but clumsy, dumb one. The dumb one tries to go where his sister goes. she easily, lithely, leaps a 4 foot expanse from the top of our wardrobe onto a 4 inch wide shelf that's 7½ feet off the ground. The first time Petey tried that jump, he was centimeters short, and all one could hear was the click click of two cat claws against the edge of the shelf. Then Crash! He face planted 5 feet down onto the wire baking rack cum bookshelf below. So yeah, i got a little triggered hearing the garland story, but really, not that much- Petey tried again a few days later and has since nailed that landing every time), Anyway, sorry for that segue! Stories of a mostly happy life, yes. Normalcy, but also authenticity. Yes, I'll accept that grwm!

I feel like so many makeup people I subscribe to do more of the short form, tiktok style stuff than regular full-length videos now and, nothing against them at all, but I prefer and enjoy the longer, personable videos soooo much more and nobody does them better than you Emily! Also, I so appreciate the og RU-vid style videos. I'm 38 and I've never seen tick toc , don't have FB or Instagram and only watch RU-vid. But, I've unfollowed most of the old content creators because they've become so unrelatable. I don't care to watch 'infomercials' or makeup being applied to Botox filled faces. I have nothing against those choices but when I'm a mom on a small budget with dry skin and wrinkles lol what can I gain from those recommendations...nothing. Sometimes if I purchase a loose powder with less than perfect packaging, aka, the Cover Girl powder you talked about today, I will just take a pin and poke the pin through a few of the holes in the container, I don't pull the tape off and then less powder is dispensed and hopefully less of a mess. Thanks Emily for another great video, I know you have had your channel for a long time, but your content is always fresh and interesting. And you don't play with your hair when you talk, (distracting when other You-Tubers do that) must be your professional broadcasting experience coming into play.

When my second son was born (10 years after first son), my habit of seeing and cheering through every little league game ended. I was there, but #2 tolerated no seating oneself. PRO M/U TIP: I put tape (regular clear tape) over most of the dispensing holes except for the inner most 2. Doing this guarantees an end to that *Open&Puff* effect & having 2 holes let's you shake out a very precise amount every time w/ *ZERO WASTE* 🙂

Just a suggestion for other people who get frustrated with loose powder products with a lot of holes where the product is getting all over the place. I just cut off one third to one half of the plastic decal .What comes out is much more manageable and it also easy to put whatever you don’t use at the moment back in. I’ve been doing this for years and the powder doesn’t poof out everywhere.

I still watch the RU-vid videos. I think we’ve moved away from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. It’s like we now only have 3 minute attention spans then part two and part three. It’s a very strange medium now. But I’ll still watch the RU-vid because I’m iffy on what’s real or what’s in beauty mode. ❤❤

Short form content takes so much more commitment from me i feel like. It needs energy to scroll through them and pick a good one. Whereas with youtube i can just leave a video on while i wash dishes, work, play with other stuff, shower, etc. Thank you for continuing to make youtube content 😍😊 Anddd, when short vids are left on their own and go on a loop, it just irritates me. its like "i know i know, you've said it a million times already! If i needed someone to repeat herself i could just talk to my mother"

maybe I'm old school, but I much prefer youtube to tiktok! I watch you specifically because of how detailed and thoughtful you are. love how focused you are on drugstore. I never really feel the need to run to sephora! just wanted to thank you for all of the time and love you put into your channel because it does not go unnoticed! I’m here for all the long form content! I definitely prefer my beauty info, reviews, faves /fails, etc in a longer video. In fact, I make sure to never look up makeup related things on TikTok because I like my feed the way it is over there - which is mostly animals and stand up comedy. I want more in depth information from reviewers I trust and have watched for years on RU-vid, and you are definitely an OG creator for me. I still love watching your videos all these years later!

You have us here and we LOVE your long and very detailed videos! 💖💖💖 Sometimes I feel they are too short but is because I am enjoying the content so much. 🤩 I can not get on board with beauty and makeup videos that are that short because there is no update of how that product wears, how does it play with other products, what type of skin may be best suited for, etc. Please keep your videos as amazing and long as you want. Here’s an idea for the cover girl powder. When it’s brand new, take a small paring knife and slice across the sticky label and pull off just what you want. so for instance, if you just want three holes open instead of all the holes, slice enough so that when you pull off that clear sticker the rest is on all the other holes and you only have three hole showing

My dad is an attorney and we call that “trial mode”. It means don’t ask dad for ANYTHING and now that I’m out of the house, I can also expect to not hear from him until it’s over. You do NOT mess with him during trial mode!

I like watching RU-vid a lot more then watching tic tock and Instagram shorts!! I feel like they are not personal!! I like RU-vid cause you get longer videos contents then short videos so RU-vid and your channel all the way for me Emily!! Me and my sister watch your videos all the time and we love how down to earth you are!! I actually love the revolution product you use!! It would be great as a light highlighter!! I love your youtube videos. I dont have tiktok and dont care to give my time to that app. I love hearing all the personal tidbits you inject to your youtube videos. The tidbits about the cats, food, kids, life, Days of Our Lives, etc. I usually save your videos for when im getting ready for work early in the morning and it feels like im getting ready with a friend. I cant imagine tiktok could ever give me that experience.

Using the damp sponge with the powder foundation sounds like how we used Max Factor pan foundation back in the day. Shiseido and Cover Girl also had powder foundations that was applied with a wet sponge as well.
