To my ears, DBX160 emulations are the perfect tools for drum compression. I love the snap they give even with little gain reduction. I use a lot the Waves one. This VCA-65 sounds really similar but with extra features. Well done again Arturia!
It's an excellent homage to the original. I have a few variations in my rack and I reach for the Arturia version every session. It's REALLY good on bass guitar (and respect to whoever created the Bass DI preset). It's also really good as a go-to saturation unit, which is reminiscent of a lot of the electronic music producers slamming 909s and similar drum machines into it. Really interesting tones. Great work.
