The Remo clutch is my favorite clutch as well! I also have had the same problem with the Remo wing nut separating from the tension point/screw and have super glued them on in a pinch. But I prefer to mod them with the lager DW "solid" wing nut like you! So rad! Thanx Earl!

Had the same issue with my Remo clutch. I still love it though for the same reason you do, never have had to worry about a screw loosening and the hi hats dropping.
AquaAnim ... the Remo clutch is the best on the market, but there tightening screw is not very good ... I use a Yamaha and Pearl tightening screw on my two clutches!
AquaAnim ... I know that one ... I used wooden paint stirs on a blues gig because I forgot my stick bag! I’ve never done that one again. I now keep stick in my car, my cymbal bag, and my hardware case! I still have those paint stirs in one of my stick bags! 😀
Thanks, this is some great nuts and bolts stuff! So it seems like there is no best clutch, it comes down to what kind of response you like, how you play and whether you are going to want to make adjustments to the clutch, sometimes/often/never. That's pretty interesting about the drop clutch, never heard of that before. Honestly, I didn't even realize that people were playing double bass in the 70's. BTW, I love the funk feel you do at 8:38 - do you have any funk covers? (totally not the point of the video, but it jumped out at me) Also, that china cymbal sounds amazing. Cheers, Bill M.
