Andrew, I really appreciate the kind words. I left Rick’s band at the end of 2019, however we had a lot of fun together. You seem to be one of the people who “get it.” When I was with Rick, we performed nearly 200 shows a year. Can you imagine how boring it was playing Mustang Sally, TWO HUNDRED TIMES a year??? LOL So we tried to make it fun. Most of the antics, were born onstage. I never sat around and “practiced” that stuff. I was a metal drummer for years, then suddenly found myself in a cover band. I didn’t do it to get attention… I did it because it made me laugh. It was actually pretty selfish of me. LOL 🤣🤣🤣
If I could like this comment more than once, I would. Love that you watch this stuff and take the time to reply. I've watched a bunch of your videos and love them all. I watch a lot of drummers who leave my jaw on the floor but never once make me smile. You leave my jaw almost on the floor (absolutely no offence intended there) but you make me smile, and believe me - I don't smile a lot! Keep up the good work, Steve. Just enjoy what you do.
Oh I get it man! You're an entertainer. I dig the drumming and you make me smile... I can hear the metal chops too in that half time breakdown with the double kick! I hope you are well man and congrats on the ongoing successes :)
@@AndrewRooneyDrums I can empathize with Mr. Moore. As a long-time cover band musician, there are songs I once loved that I can't even listen to anymore. And being visually impaired I am morbidly aware of music played in stores. If CCR's version of "Proud Mary" starts playing in the grocery I have to leave and come back. Props to Mr. Moore for finding a way to make it both bearable for him and entertaining for us.
ran sound for him back in 2014. very humble dude. said he grew up loving to play thrash metal like slayer. so he uses the same energy all of his cover tunes
Watched a bunch of videos with Steve Moore on drums. I'm not a drummer but have spent allot of time over my 62 years watching and listening to great drummers in the rock, jazz and world drumming domain . Steve is a serious drumming talent and unreal showman. The real deal. Nothing left to do but smile...
He's very entertaining to watch. Add to that the fact that the timing and chops are steady and on the spot which is impressive seeing how the movements introduce lag that he's easily foreseeing. I guess playing the song 100's of times while experimenting with funny ideas helps get that down to a T.
Watched these videos many times love them. I was in a band playing drums in the early sixties and Wipe Out was one of my favourites, I am 75 and still playing but only for fun!
This video is amazing…and also your one of the rarest people who actually fill something in their cup and drink it while shooting …unlike people who shows off their cups with nothing in them 😂
I was a stage tech at a venue where they played regularly in the early 2000's and was priveledged to meet Steve and see him do all this and more live in dozens of gigs over the 3 years while I was there. He is a wild whirlwind behind the drums, a total pro on and off stage and a chill dude. Respect! :)
I've seen several of their videos, and.... its interesting! But, Hey, they're making a living, very entertaining, making folks feel good, and you can't find any negatives in that! Music from the 50's and 60's will always make people feel good. I've seen all generations "rockin" with it!
Love the drummer ,i was just looking thu u tube and came across the mad drummer ,now i cant stop watching him, do you have merchandise , i would love a t shirt. your great steve thank you for being entertaining.
Great video, Andrew. Fantastic to hear someone who knows their stuff talk about Steve. He’s not just an entertainer, but a fantastic drummer. Btw, it’s unusual to hear a skins man articulate legit musical terminology so convincingly. You rehearsed well. Haha, I’m kidding of course. Hi from the horn section. 😉 Thanks again!
This and the “wrong gig” video were both shot at Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg,Pennsylvania. They were (are?) regular performers there. I was lucky enough to catch a show there.
Really great stuff.! I'd of loved to of had my little girl with me at that gig. Such fun. If there were more like you I think beginner drum kits would be sold out everywhere
Steve is truly a great drummer. This is all about entertainment. Not to be viewed as pin point technique drumming. Most people wouldn’t notice any misses/slip ups. They see the characters and love it. This is a really special drumming duo. Timing was spot on in changes and done with ease. Once you’ve got the talent you’ve always got it. Steve wasn’t young in 08. Been drumming for decades so he’d built a fair following especially with the flailing arms. Real signature piece. A classic.
I read this quickly and thought you said Jerry Lewis on drums. I immediately thought of Jerry Lewis playing the drums on his show with Buddy Rich (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-141o_jwG7cA.html)... then I read it again and realized I had missed the full name. However, I can confirm that Steve Moore does in fact have great bass drums of fire ;-)
great job and prop s and a big that you to the mad drummer some folks probly that you went off your meds hahaha loved watching these guys they have it down tight
This is awesome! I didn’t know Gary Busey played the drums lmao. Jokes folks. They must have spent a lot of time on this act. Dudes got chops. These jokers deserve a better venue than this carnival.
Hell, the singer has pretty good chops from what I could hear. Granted non drummer speaking, but as a layman, I wouldn't be mad at him, being the drummer in a cover band.
If you haven't checked out Godsmack's drum duel, give it a look. Though it seems like more of a drum duo. The singer is the "other" drummer. Good stuff.
I've watched many of the mad drummer videos. Never a dull moment. It takes great skill to do the crazy things he does and stay in time and beat. Very skilled..... I literally started watching your channel today. I watched many Black Sabbath, Bill Ward critiques. Bill was filthy..... please try listening to Queensryche.... you will be in a new HOG HEAVEN! Scott Rockenfeld is sick! And the band is the greatest ever. Geoff Tates voice will leave you in awe!
I noticed your classic, Ludwig Supraphonic 400 chrome snare. I used to own one of those back in the 70s. The rest of my kit was Camco, with a Ludwig Speed King bass pedal. Wonderful stuff, that!
"It's hard playing the drums standing up." Let me introduce you to Bela B, drummer of German punk band "Die Ärzte." Granted, they aren't very technical, but never the less he always plays standing up.
Great recommendation! Saw him live and it's a non stop show. His stick tricks have stick tricks. Not to mention throwing his leg up onto the hi hat, standing on his throne... He's wild!
Brilliant stage act, this what music should be about. Enthusiasm and crowd involvement. Bravo 🙌🏻 and thanks again Resting B-face Also check out (greyson nekrutman) he’s a phenomenal young drummer
Started playing this song in "bar bands" when I was 5 (many decades ago.) Was completely sick of it by the time I was 8. Much respect to Steve Moore for making it fresh enough for me to tolerate again. Andrew - may I request my two childhood heroes - Gene Krupa and Brian Downey?
@andrew Rooney, because you said that it’s not easy playing drums while standing, you should totally check out Bela B. from the Punk Rock Band „Die Ärzte“ from Germany. They are pretty famous here in Germany and Bela B. ALWAYS plays the drums standing up. Check out the Song „Schrei nach Liebe“ live from the Rock am Ring Festival 2019. (or many many other of their songs and Gigs)
Pretty funny and entertaining, but I still like the Ventures version (with Mel Taylor) the best. Don’t know about NZ, but back in the day, learning to play Wipeout was practically a rudiment required for wannabe rock drummers. If you want to see another entertaining performance of a drummer playing while standing up check out Yoyoka’s cover of Rock This Town by the Stray Cats. If it doesn’t put a smile on your face, you need to see a shrink. 😎
Only if you've got time buddy... Loving your work! Having two little kids I don't play as much as I would like, but here's a favourite from the reason got into the drums... And bought some of his gear like the real pro I am (loved your vid on that):ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7b6R4eaeuGY.html
I've seen several of his shows him and the rest of the band have a complete comedy routine worked out That they do while they're playing they're hilarious the lead singer is supposed to get really pissed off at him and they're fighting
It's one thing to play drums well. It's another thing to play drums well, do crazy stage antics, and keep good time. The tempo shifts strike me as intentional, and they come back to the original tempo (or close enough) and all that is hard! I feel bad for the dude's cymbals though! lol
