This is essentially a creative workout for him, it's astounding. Second time in a band from what I know of him. He was in a band called Saratoga for a year or so before he started doing all those videos. The sure thing is that the Haterade chuggers are gonna quiet down a little now that he's doing more than showing off and not playing covers exactly like they were on the album. They keep squawking and he keeps proving them wr😅

A Spaniard, an Englishman, and an Irishman walk on a stage... and blow everyone's mind. Yep, no joke. I really dig this song. Cheers from Spain, the land of El Estepario PS Peter and Chris have a jazz background (check out a band called Valmuz), and that shows up, plus Jorge (El Estepario real name) is probably one of the best drummers of the World, if not the best.

Great reaction, Andrew. Greetings from Spain. Peter Connelly is Irish and Chris Attwell is an Englishman. From what I see, they came to Valencia to study at Berklee College of Music and then they created a Jazz band with other spanish musicians. The name of the band is Valmuz.

I loved it! It was moody and intense with great dynamics, smooth vocals with an edge, technically clean, a gutsy bass and of course, EES's rock solid drumming that supported the song perfectly. The video production showcased the music and all of the guys without a lot of flash. Despite his trolls, Jorge (EES) is a seasoned professional working with bands and video. He's well aware of the difference between doing a video highlighting drums versus blending with a group. He's also crazy smart with his use of social media and has built a well deserved following. I'm looking forward to more! Great first release!

First I loved this single from The Cost I love the musicality of all of them. but here is info what I have found. The Guitar player and Bass player are originally from a band called Valmuz which is a bit of a Jazz band. Their names:- Drums: El Estepario Siberiano (Jorge Garrido is his real name) Voice and Guitar: Peter Conolly Bass: Chris Atwell

Great reaction like always and indeed this is what a great drummer is. He can play extreme, insane and entertaining but also perfect fitting band parts. Seen Meshuggah, Textures and avfew others yesterday and hear some simularities in the Cost their music. And yes still hoping we can one day enjoy an interview with you and 66Samus, maybe also an good idea for the NZ-Drummer podcast. The Cost: Peter Connelly, Chris Attwell, Jorge Garrido. 'The Siberian Stepper' used to be in another band, 'Saratoga' which wasn't doing what Jorge expected. 'Not for me' is a fantastic opening single....MORE MORE!

I remember after he left Saratoga, he said he was starting a jazz fusion band. I can't say I'm not a little disappointed that that didn't happen. That being said, I do like their sound, that's a very solid first single for a band.

Only on this song was he deliberately "conservative" and he did it on purpose, so that we as listeners would pay attention to the music and not overly at the drums. He'll come back with a vengeance, he said that one of the band's influences is S.O.T.D. so now I'm waiting for the next songs... They make nice rock music!

I kind of hoped to see some progressive elements in whatever band he chose. He could jumpstart a new iteration of something like Tool, Dream Theater or even Devy. I'm not surprised he went down the generic, radio-friendly path. But i was really hoping to introduce aome elements to help evolve the masses. I won't write it off. And I love El Estepario. I just dont see the difference between this and 3 Days Grace, "Never Too Late". Same, safe vibe, no? Fuck, I've ruined music for myself. 😅

"You can't play like that in a band" 🙄 That's what they said about Carter Beauford of The Dave Matthews Band. There are times when a drummer must serve the song and band. And there are many times when the song is greatly improved by a "busy" drummer. We really need to revert our paradigms back to the "band leader" being the drummer, like jazz bands. Many progressive metal/rock bands (ie Tool, Gojira, Periphery) build songs around rhythms created first by the drummer. Thinking of drummers as basic timekeepers robs us of our musicality. Idiophones and membraphones can be as expressive as strings, wood or brass.

don´t mean to be offensive, but for me this song is a bit of a disappointment .. I mean, why do you produce a Song with E.S. with a drum track, that `any drummer´ could have played .. to me it´s a `waste of ingeniousness´ .. and the `overall vibe´ of this song is so `boringly average´ .. so again, no hard feelings, but just can´t tune in with the incensing here ..

I got early Breaking Benjamin meets Deftones from this one (& that's a solid compliment in my book!), but considering Peter & Chris play together in a jazz band (& I think both of them went to Berklee's campus in Valencia for their masters, & thus met Jorge there), they likely have the musical chops to take us down all sorts of interesting paths.... & I'm 100% here for it!! :)

Hey hey from New England It's cool to see him playing within the context of an original song As you'd expect the drums are engineered expertly As with most songs along with the drums vocals are a make or break for me and I like this guys tone This is giving me heavy 90's early 2000's vibes its a great mix of Seether Breaking Benjamin and maybe Three Dyas Grace The overall production is well done professional heavy without being blugening A solid first showing for sure 🧐✌️🤘

I would imagine most artist would be just like ES and show off their skills. I mean could you imagine Bonham's Tik Toks and on a whole different angle like Grohl, think about going from a natural drummer to a guitarist to lead his band. Danny has one song that shows off his amazing talents while I would disagree cause I think he shows his talents amazingly in every song as well as all his band mates, but then again ToOl is ToOl. But truly great bands are usually based on its entirety not it's singularity.

Thank you for sharing this video with us and your knowledge about drums . I really like that song in the video I went on Spotify and listen to the recording and the band is really good. I really like the style of the music and the video and I like what you’re saying about the video. Yes, true drummer can go too crazy for the music and then it would be too much, sometimes less is better for this song and you don’t need to show up on the song because it could ruin all the singing basin, drums, and all that
