According to an interview ELOY gave recently, he broke 10 to 12 pairs of drumsticks in this show... So much emotion. He said it was a mixture of emotions. Chilling

the speed up you hear at 1:03 is part of the original song. Eloy's is putting down his own pocket groove, power and mojo, but respecting the original core and intention of composition. Like a boss!

everyone's been saying that Slipknot is now playing to a click because they're so in time now.. they famously never play to one . but a RU-vidr dug into it by freeze-frameing shot of the band , and not one of them was wearing in-ears...which would make it impossible for them to be on a click. Eloy does look at a metronome at the start of the songs he starts, but that's it. eloy is just that good. thank you for the shout out btw ;)

eloy is a beast, but i mean they're playing in 4 and it's slipknot. when a band like car bomb doesn't play to a click it kind of waters that down.

You should check out his solo at the Paiste Day in 2011, as a 20yo. It's crazy. It's halfway between the Modern Drummer performance and now. He's got the power and is still doing the clave stuff. Right when he is joining Sepultura.

ELOY, got me watching Slipknot . This guy is a great drummer , solid tempo , hard hitting , amazing to watch . I'm glad watching other vids that Slipknot egos are down to earth, very cool. You always see egos kill bands , but not with ELOY. Great attitude , glad for them , even though I'm 55 and never took onto this music but watching today due to ELOY. What a work out lol

8:54 there’s an interview where Eloy says that during that show his bass drum beater was sticking to the head because there was adhesive there so he rubbed dirt on it and kept going

Great point about "steamrolling" through whatever happens. There's a "Paiste Day LA 2011" in which Eloy performs an insane solo, and towards the end (around 4:22), he drops the stick during a climactic moment, and, as you said, he steam-rolled it. His right arm calmly reached for another drumstick while the rest of his body continued with "frantic octopus mode". If you're just hearning, you'd never notice. Even watching closely, it's easy to miss it. For his first show with Slipknot it was not bad, but it's far away from being crazy or tight as fuck. It's hard hitting, but that's all. Eloy himself said that it was just ok, he didn't like his performance that much that night.

Jay was good but he really never should have been the drummer in the first place. Jay didn’t even really play metal/double bass before he joined slipknot.
